Subject: ALERT Alumni Update | March 2022

March 2022

Dear Alumni,

We just made the transition from our winter quarter of training into the spring quarter. Unit 65 successfully finished up their 2nd Phase of training last week and moved into their 3rd Phase options. This quarter we have 3 men taking Flight, 11 men taking EMT, 9 men in Cadre, and 3 men in the Missions program. Please be in prayer for these men as they take the next steps into the "Forging" process.

Unit 66 is just around the corner with 27 men coming in to start their journey to becoming ALERT men. We have witnessed a shift in some of the struggles and challenges this generation of young men is facing as opposed to others (i.e. more split homes, phone addiction, lack of mental health and resilience, post-pandemic depression, isolation, more external than internal locus, and so on). Please be in prayer for the Cadre and they work with to mentor and disciple these men. Pray that they would come away from their time here in Basic Training having deepened their identity in Christ and their calling as men.
I want to share a couple of needs and prayer requests that we have this quarter:
  • We are looking for outlets to get our Mission Phase overseas over the next 11 weeks. If you are aware of opportunities abroad that might fit the ALERT dynamics please let us know.
  • We are still looking for a Commanding Officer for Basic Training.
  • We are trying to find a more sustainable instructor model for our Fire Academy and EMT course, as well as an instructor to bring back the Paramedic course. Pray for wisdom as we consider the best way to address this staffing need.
  • Our scholarship fund is very low currently. Please pray for increased donations to the fund so we can help men with financial needs attend training at ALERT.
One final thing to note: Lt. Winkler is exploring putting together an opportunity for a small number of alumni guys to join Basic Training on the Endurance Hike each unit. If that is something you would be interested in doing, please reach out to him for more details. His email is swinkler@alertacademy.com.

Thank you for all your prayers and support during this year of training and transition. Let us know how we can be praying for you all.

Stand Strong!
