I found myself with serious brain cramps this week, Friend, have you ever experienced that?
It’s not brain freeze – that's when you eat ice cream or something really cold like a slurpy and you go cross-eyed – brain cramps come from overthinking a problem or situation.
I think it’s Albert Einstein’s fault: he said that he didn’t consider himself smarter than anyone else, he just stayed with the problem longer, so I don’t shelve problems or situations easily. I allow them time to germinate until solutions surface, but sometimes they just fester and cause me so much grief!
Crazy.
Crazy because I know better. I know that grinding and overthinking a situation is like trying to fly over the pond when you’re tangled in the weeds. Doesn’t work.
I’m not suggesting that my analytical mind is incompetent - I’m not the dullest pencil in the bucket - but I do know that the truest of answers don’t come from thinking, they come from feeling.
Remember that Billy Ocean Song, “Get out of my dreams, and into my car …"? This problem-solving technique is kind of like that. Get out of my head and into my heart 😊
I shared this week’s dilemma with Allison and she asked me a couple of really insightful questions that were like a brain massage. I’ll spill the beans tomorrow - Friday – at 11:00 a.m. Eastern when Allison and I take to the airways to jam about why it always needs to “feel” right.
Connect with Allison on LinkedIn as she is hosting the stream. C’mon, I can’t be the only one who overthinks things! (Let’s call this a laugh-and-learn 😊) |
