BLACK ART: Is it finally getting its due recognition?

Black Art has been historically underrepresented, but it seems it may finally be getting the recognition it deserves.

Whether it's through HBO's documentary Black Art: In the Absence of Light, or the startup, Ganggang, that focuses on black artists pushing barriers, it would seem the tide is turning, and there is more intentional recognition for the achievements and influence Black Art has made on our culture.

Black artists are setting the tone for high-quality art while also influencing the market. And in Charles Moore's book, The Black Market: A Guide to Art Collecting, he not only provides a step-by-step guide to building an art collection but also discusses the history of African American art explores the struggles and triumphs of the African American experience. While the title might seem to target a specific audience, he believes anyone can pick up the book and learn from it.
