We thank and praise God for how He worked among us at Chinese Mission Convention 2016 in Baltimore, MD! Over 2,930 people attended, from 33 US states and 5 countries. Chinese Mission Convention is a church-based, discipleship-driven, family-friendly, intergenerational mission convention with a strong “Next Step” follow-up ministry. We are grateful for how He used the diligent work of the local planning team, hundreds of volunteers, and the sacrificial financial investment from our supporters!
We are thankful for the many excellent speakers sharing inspiring messages. Becky Pippert urged us to be unleashed from our fears of inadequacy and allow God to use our weakness to be His witness. Bob Sjogren compelled us that God’s glory should be our highest priority. Francis Chan’s challenge was for unity in our families and churches as we follow God together.

God also unleashed His people together for His global glory in tangible ways during the convention. For example, many of the older youth went into the inner city of Baltimore to serve in soup kitchens and younger students made care packages for the homeless to be distributed to local shelters.
It is evident how the Lord worked among us at CMC 2016, drawing attendees to be reproducing disciples and from there unleashed into where the Lord wants them to be for His Glory. In the final combined English and Youth session 560 people completed commitment cards dedicating themselves to pursue missional discipleship or to follow God’s call on their lives to fulfill the Great Commission, including 87 people who desire to be baptized. In the Chinese College Student Program, 50 devoted themselves to the missional lifestyle, 86 prayed to surrender to the lordship of Christ, and almost all 115 participants dedicated themselves to be a witness for Christ on the campus.
In the Chinese adult program hundreds of people went forward, including nearly 400 who met with counselors to discuss how they can take the “Next Step” in following God’s call. AFC’s Next Step follow-up teams; in conjunction with local churches, pastors, missionaries and exhibitors; provided counseling onsite and will continue after the convention. Furthermore, a Next Step follow-up retreat is being planned for 2017. It is a great blessing to see so many local churches and pastors are actively involved as churches follow-up with their own attendees.
