Subject: From the Beginning to the End of the Year

Dear Friends,

In 2015-2016 alone, over 357,000 Chinese students and 42,000 scholars studied in the US. According to national statistics, around 75% of them would eventually return to their home country. One of our new campus missionaries Abby (Xiao Fan) came to faith during her student exchange program in the US. However, being the first PhD student of the family also brings enormous pressure for her to be successful. After attending CMC 2013, she was inspired by the strategic place of university and started to connect her personal salvation story with God’s mission. We are glad today that Abby is being sent by AFC to represent Christ to hundreds of Chinese students and scholars at her alma mater.
More people like Abby are getting ready to start their vocational ministry with AFC. Often came as international students, these young workers have the background and skill advantages that the rest of us don’t have. But they need proper training and support in order to thrive as gospel workers.

We praise God for enabling AFC for another fruitful year in the ministry (detailed annual ministry report can be downloaded at the end of the mail):
  • In our own mission field, 9 new staff joined AFC as fulltime campus missionaries. As a result of that, we were able to launch new campus ministries at strategic locations of California, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Indiana and Illinois.
  • Nearly a year ago, Dr. Yeou-Cherng Bor left his professorship at University of Virginia and became the Executive Director of AFC. Under his leadership, our ministries were able to make strategic adjustments and provide more staff training and care.
  • With donors’ help, our Chinese Resource Ministry has printed and shipped 175,000 free and subsidized items to the world’s most needed areas. Gospel workers show great appreciation for them.
  • After the successful Chinese Mission Convention (CMC) 2015 in Houston, we are now in the final preparation for CMC 2016 in Baltimore. More than 2,500 people already signed up to learn and be unleashed for missions.
  • The 2nd phase of the Training Center: Guest Lodge, will be completed by the end of December. This is the answer to our prayers for many years. And special thanks goes to partners who have generously given toward this project. Our team is so excited to put it in use, and in fact we’ve scheduled 13 training events starting next January.
We are excited about the ample opportunities that God has brought to us, but we still lack adequate financial resources in a few areas. As an important partner to AFC mission, we’d like to invite you to pray for our detailed needs:
  • that our current deficit of $57,190 can be met before the year-end,
  • that God may raise up 300 partners in 2017 who will contribute a minimum of 100 dollars a month so that AFC mission could be sustained;
  • that God may motivate 2,000 partners who will make ONE-TIME special gifts for our new ministry initiatives.
  • With so many new in-coming staff, we need more systematic trainings to prepare them before sending them out. For those who are making the transition from student into ministry, raising fund in a short amount of time can be very challenging. We want to raise an endowment fund to provide initial subsidy so that they could gradually become financially sustained.

Thank you for considering our needs as you and your family plans the year-end giving. You may give online now. Thank you!
