AFC Headquarters Campus Staff Retreat & First New Staff Training

“Wow! I didn’t realize we could help students grow to this level of spiritual maturity!” New staff member Fengjie exclaimed, her eyes widening in surprise after hearing from experienced campus coworkers. That sense of wonder became fresh encouragement as she began her own journey in campus ministry.

From June 22–27, about 50 AFC campus ministry coworkers from across the U.S., together with 9 new staff members, gathered at AFC headquarters. Over six days, they learned, prayed, worshiped, and shared life together—encouraging one another and finding renewed strength. This was more than training; it was a gathering of lives set ablaze by the gospel.

Afterward, they returned to campuses across the country to welcome new students, walk alongside them, and share the gospel. Life changes life. Deeply moved by the care and passion of the experienced coworkers, Fengjie was inspired to follow their example. One staff member who is faithfully built up can impact a generation of students; a generation of students who are built up can, in turn, become leaders who shape the next generation.

Light in the Low Places

This September, the 5th COMPOSE Original Music Evangelistic Outreach Tour (Ming Chen, Creative Studio), themed “Light in the Low Places,” brought together young Chinese songwriters from across North America to share original music and real-life stories with those who are not “on top” in life. Two evenings were held in partnership with local churches: September 19 at Chantilly Bible Church (Chantilly, VA) and September 26 at The Light of Life Christian Church (Baltimore, MD).

2026 AFC BIC Christian Singles Growth Retreat

“I came hoping to find a life partner,” said Brother Jiang, attending the Singles Growth Retreat for the first time. After four days and three nights, he came away with a new perspective: “I realized that marriage is not about finding someone to fill a void. Instead, we should first learn to live a vibrant, whole life, and then invite someone to share it with us.”

In June and September, AFC Singles Ministry, led by Minister Mary Chou, held Christian Singles Growth Retreats in Malibu, CA and Paradise, PA, drawing 143 single brothers and sisters. Participants learned to understand and accept themselves, practice empathy and listening, and build healthy relationships while addressing loneliness, anxiety, self-worth, and questions about their future. We are grateful that following the retreats, two couples have begun dating and are willing to receive Christ-centered relationship counseling as they seek God’s guidance together.

May single brothers and sisters continue to prepare themselves, know God more deeply, learn to walk with one another in Christ, and live vibrant, abundant lives!

When a Teen Steps Out, God Works Within

CMC Youth & Short-Term Missions Symposium

“It was God’s love that enabled me to forgive those two boys and reconcile with them.” When Samuel shared about serving refugee youth on a short-term mission trip, he spoke not only about what he gained, but also honestly about his own weaknesses—and how God used the experience to transform his life.

On August 30, CMC hosted its first symposium focused on youth, “Letting Go or Walking Alongside? — A Parent’s Heart for Youth Short-Term Missions.” Parents and teens shared openly about how families can nurture a love for God and others, while giving young people opportunities to encounter God through serving.

One parent, Lily, offered a thought-provoking reminder: “Short-term missions isn’t about sending our kids out to serve. It’s about walking alongside them as they learn to rely on God through serving.”

This was more than a symposium—it was an investment in the next generation. When a family chooses to walk alongside a young person, and a young person responds to God’s call, the impact of the gospel can reach from one life to the next generation. We are preparing a path for the next generation to engage in missions—and we invite you to walk with us.
