Praise and thanks to God for working among us at Chinese Mission Convention 2017 in Ontario, CA! Over 3,300 people attended representing over 450 churches, including over 280 pastors and nearly 700 youth and children. Chinese Mission Convention (CMC) is a church-based, discipleship-driven, family-friendly, intergenerational mission convention with a strong “Next Step” follow-up strategy. God greatly used the diligent work of the local planning team, hundreds of volunteers, and the sacrificial financial investment from our supporters for His Glory!
We are thankful for the many excellent speakers sharing inspiring messages. Pastor Peter Tan-Chi, from the Philippines, encouraged us to be active in reproducing discipleship and build churches that are centered on strong discipleships. Bob Sjögren compelled us that “Christ died to bring God the glory” and that God’s glory should be the central storyline of our lives and any ministry endeavors. Pastor Francis Chan’s challenge was for unity upon diversity and humility. As Asian heritage churches, we can learn and respect each culture in families, churches and generations as we follow God together. Dr. Yeou-Cherng Bor pointed to the ready opportunities among overseas Chinese students here in the US, especially those who landed in California. Churches are more than ever situated in epic center of these mission trends....

It is evident how the Lord worked among us, drawing attendees to closer to His own hear and become reproducing disciples unleashed for His Glory. God unleashed His church together to take on the challenge of adopting 139 Unreached Unengaged People Groups in China, who have no church or missionaries present, as well as the other 28 Chinese diaspora people groups throughout the world.
Altogether across CMC, over 500 people completed commitment cards and many met with counselors to discuss how they can take the “Next Step” in following God’s call. AFC’s Next Step follow-up teams; in conjunction with local churches, pastors, missionaries and exhibitors; provided counseling onsite and will continue after the convention. Furthermore, a Next Step follow-up retreat is being planned for Feb 2-3, 2018. It is a great blessing to see so many local churches and pastors actively involved as churches follow-up with their own attendees.
We praise God for such a transformative experience at CMC that people from all ages and all walks of life went away with a renewed sense of the Great Commission. Only His power is able to accomplish this for His glory!
