Meet Elspeth Beard, the first British woman to ride a motorcycle around the world.
She set off to ride her motorbike around the world in 1982 and never imagined that her story would be published as there was very little interest in her achievement when she returned. All her journals, letters and photos remained hidden in the back of a cupboard for over thirty five years. It was only in 2008 after a short article was written about her round-the-world trip on the BMW International web site that her story gradually spread on the internet. It was not until the following year she discovered that she had become the first British woman to ride a motorcycle around the world.
In 2017 Elspeth published her critically acclaimed book, "Lone Rider." This must read has been translated into several languages and is available as an audio book. I absolutely love my audio version! I can't wait to get my autographed hard copy!
