Consider taking each day of the 12 days to focus on the article of faith that the symbol represents.
For example:

Take time to read the account in Genesis of the the 6 days that God created life. Gen. 1:31-2:2 As you read of each element created, ponder how you might enjoy this element more if you remembered that it was God who created it for our good and for His glory.
