Subject: 3rd Sunday of Advent-Dec 14

reFresh Advent Reflections 2014
Peace on Earth... -Melissa
Peace. Paz. Fred. мир.
die Ruhe.  Ramybė. Pace. 安らぎ.

Peace is often hard to find in the chaos of this season.  Why do our hearts long for peace in the chaos?

Because our hearts long for the Prince of Peace who entered the world on a chaotic night, in a stable.

I painted this years ago.
It came together as I painted.
I intended to paint a cheery Christmas canvas...
Instead I found chaos
and
was prompted by the Prince of Peace
to spell out the words
and
to draw a crown.

Each year as I pull this painting out for this season,
I am reminded of how peace can be lost in the noise. I am reminded of the Prince of Peace.

For a child has been born for us, a son given to us;
authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. -Isaiah 9:6
3rd Sunday of Advent
Each candle in the Advent wreath represents something key:

1st Sunday is Hope

2nd Sunday is Faith

3rd Sunday is Peace

4th Sunday is Joy

and if you have a fifth candle
It is the Christ candle

Lit on Christmas Day.
Intentional reflections:
Have something to write with and something to write on available and then...

With your eyes closed, think over the past week
What was the most chaotic time you experienced?

Write this experience or draw this experience

Ask Jesus to show you how He wants to be the Prince of Peace in that experience.
write or draw what He has shown you.

Thank Jesus for coming to be the Prince of Peace.

You are invited to do this same exercise for the chaos that you see in your week ahead.
And you are invited to look for the peaceful places, spaces and people within the chaos.
