Subject: We've done our homework...

...and we are hoping to accomplish more with your help.

Dear friends of Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity,
It is important to complete homework, and our leaders have done theirs. In 2018, a study was conducted by Black Hills Knowledge Network discussing the need for affordable housing in the Rapid City area. The study found that 3,500 affordable owner-occupied homes are needed. Habitat leadership has completed a five-year strategic plan that addresses some of the housing need in our service area.

The plan involves: building 40 homes by 2024; repairing 110 homes; and generating more funding for our mission through our ReStores. Before moving forward, we need to hear from you. We are conducting a planning study, which starts March 23rd. This review involves surveying the entire Habitat community. Through the results we will learn which projects are considered most important and gauge support for a potential major fundraising effort, to pay for all, or some, of the projects.

We have contracted with the Steier Group, a development firm, to conduct the study. We’ll share more details about the study, the projects and a potential campaign in the coming weeks. Details about the study can be found by clicking the button below. Thank you for your support!
