Dear friends of Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity, It is important to complete homework, and our leaders have done theirs. In 2018, a study was conducted by Black Hills Knowledge Network discussing the need for affordable housing in the Rapid City area. The study found that 3,500 affordable owner-occupied homes are needed. Habitat leadership has completed a five-year strategic plan that addresses some of the housing need in our service area.
The plan involves: building 40 homes by 2024; repairing 110 homes; and generating more funding for our mission through our ReStores.
Before moving forward, we need to hear from you. We are conducting a planning study, which starts March 23rd. This review involves surveying the entire Habitat community. Through the results we will learn which projects are considered most important and gauge support for a potential major fundraising effort, to pay for all, or some, of the projects.
We have contracted with the Steier Group, a development firm, to conduct the study. We’ll share more details about the study, the projects and a potential campaign in the coming weeks.
Details about the study can be found by clicking the button below. Thank you for your support!
