If you have donated to ReStore in Rapid City, chances are Bernie Christner assisted. Five days a week, Bernie volunteers in ReStore repairing lights and accepting donations, a task he has happily performed for over ten years.

| Bernie started volunteering in 2008 on the construction site, but when the ReStore officially opened, he choose to serve on the loading dock.
In 2017 Bernie became the first volunteer in our affiliate to surpass 10,000 hours; a distinction he proudly displays in the form of a paper heart hanging above his work station. |

While Bernie's dedication to Habitat and all his donated hours are notable, it is his warm heart and inviting smile we all appreciate. Bernie is the type of guy to hide your spoon at lunch just to get you to chuckle. He will serenade you as he exits a room, and whenever you do him a favor he will say: "Your kindness is only exceeded by your good looks."
Bernie not only makes our work lighter, he lifts our spirits. We thank him for all his years of commitment and humor. |

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.
