Opening its first location in 2007 on 11th St., ReStore began as a means of keeping used construction materials out of the waste stream while raising funds for affordable housing solutions. In 2016 after the store moved to 610 E. Omaha (2010) and the Spearfish doors opened (2013), Dallas came aboard as the Manager, inheriting a $650k business with the goal of taking it to $1 million in sales.
"Dallas is a bit of a jack of all trades with a certain folksy, whimsical way about him, and a solid retail experience. He has a history in the community, knows lots of people, but is also humble and honest. He has always fit in well with the organization," says Scott Engman, Executive Director of Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity.
Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity is so proud of the community's support to make the ReStore a success, but the work is far from done. For 1 in 11 South Dakotans, the cost of home is more than they can afford, putting families in positions where they must choose between healthcare and rent or healthy food and their mortgage. Without ReStore and the support of generous donors, Habitat's work would not be possible and additional families would be waiting for affordable housing solutions. With this we urge the community to keep donating, keep shopping, and keep supporting Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity.
