You may be aware of the scripture which tells us (to paraphrase) "Everything works to the good for those who love the Lord."
With that in mind, you know the problems I've been having conducting a meaningful web conference due to internet and some technical problems we've had in the past. It's been quite frustrating to say the least. I was all prepared to contribute to a great conference last week, spent hours driving to the city, spent money on a hotel room just to have a good signal to 'be sure' to have a great conference call as I promised. As you know, the bandwidth in the hotel at that time of night was horrible and I could not maintain a connection to the conference platform and the conference was impossible.
No worries, 'all things work to the good'!
I've come up with a solution which will solve the following problems once and for all;
- Technical glitches which have caused people problems logging in to the system.
- Connection issues on my end or yours.
- Scheduling and timing issues
...all can be solved this way:
What I will do is to record an audio presentation on a given subject according to our previously outlined subject matter/agenda schedule.
I'll make that audio available in the forum.
We'll use that as a kickstarter for further discussion in the forum where you can contribute your knowledge and experience as well as ask questions for guidance and support.
The fact is, we need to get people using the forum more than it is being used now anyway. This is potentially a tremendous tool for us to connect with each other and it's being underutilized. This new approach may help.
This way, I can prepare the discussion starter whenever is convenient for me without having to commit to a schedule.
You can listen and contribute whenever is convenient for you.
Hopefully we can get more people involved and active on the subject matter and make some real progress in advancing our body of knowledge and networking with each other, as a result.
