Subject: Our Biggest Event of the Year

December 30, 2026

As many of us wind down at the end of the year, our Mumbai contingent is revving up for ADFF's biggest festival of the season. Though we love all our festivals equally, Mumbai is undeniably our most complex—27 films (six of them in 3D), nine bespoke creations in our Pavilion Park, and a curated speaker series of 20+ experts.

ADFF:Mumbai is created with our friends and partners at STIR. In the words of STIR's Founder and Editor-in-Chief Amir Gupta, last year's festival "marked the beginning of something truly special for the country’s creative ecosystem, and for 2026 we’re poised to go bigger, bolder and more experimental."

ADFF in 3D

“No other art (besides dance) needs the third dimension as clearly as architecture.”

- Wim Wenders

Wim Wenders has been creating architecture films in 3D since his 2010 film If Buildings Could Talk. In 2014, he was the Executive Producer of the six-part film Cathedrals of Culture, where different directors each created a 30-minute film on a building of their choice with narration from the perspective of the building. Wenders directed the segment on The Berlin Philharmonic (designed by Hans Scharoun), Robert Redford directed the segment on the Salk Institute (designed by Louis Kahn), Margaret Olin directed the segment on the Oslo Opera House (designed by Snøhetta), and Michael Madson directed the segment on Halden Prison. We will show these films in 3D, alon with two other Wenders 3D experiences—Anselm (about the artist Anselm Kiefer) and Pina (about the dancer Pina Bausch). These films are not to be missed, along with the other 21 films in the lineup, each of which gives its audience a deeper understanding of the world around us. Click here to see All Films

Pavilion Park

This year's nine pavilions were selected by an impressive jury led by Aric Chen and including legends like Hans Ulrich Obrist, Lesley Lokko, Ma Yansong, Martha Thorne, and Raj Rewal. Not only did these jurors select the projects, but they will be in attendence at the festival and speaking on various programs and panels. Each pavilion will debut at ADFF:Mumbai and then go on to have a second life at a cultural or academic institution somewhere else in India. The festival will expand with these pavilions, planting seeds for future iterations across the sub-continent.
