Subject: Oh, Canada!

October 29, 2025

What a month it’s been! Our October festivals in New York and LA wrapped up with inspiring films and memorable conversations about design, cities, and the power of storytelling through architecture. We’re still buzzing from the incredible energy and the passionate communities that came together on both coasts.

Now, we’re heading north to Vancouver and Toronto. Whether you’re an architect, a filmmaker, or just someone who loves seeing how spaces shape our lives, there’s so much to look forward to. Below are just a few of the exciting events coming to ADFF's Canada festivals:

The Big Brutal Quiz (Special Event)

Host: Joël León Danis

This first-of-its-kind ADFF event is a trivia night that dives into the dramatic intersection of brutalist design and film. From dystopian futures to sci-fi classics, no architectural style has cast a heavier shadow across cinema than brutalism. This interactive event challenges architects, designers, and film buffs to match legendary buildings with more than 20 on-screen appearances and vice versa.

New York audiences loved the Big Brutal Quiz. Trust us, you don't want to miss it.

Changing Lanes

2025 / 73 min / US

Director: Ben Wolf

After a beloved teacher is tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, a grassroots movement emerges to transform a notoriously dangerous four-lane boulevard into a safer, two-lane street with protected bike lanes. While many applaud the proposed road diet, it also sparks a backlash—led in part by a powerful local business owner. As government support begins to waver, neighbors unite to challenge entrenched interests and fight for a safer Greenpoint.
