Subject: From Vancouver to Toronto

November 8, 2025

We have a whole weekend of films in Vancouver before we move the festival to Toronto. Many of our Vancouver screenings are sold out, but we encourage you to come to VIFF Centre early if there is a film you don't want to miss. We can often sell a few more tickets day of. You can explore the weekend's lineup here.

Then it's on to ADFF:Toronto! We love TIFF, but we know their ticketing system can be a little tricky. If you're longing for an analog solution, come by the theater to get your tickets in person.

Below are some films and events not to be missed, with their screening times in both Canadian cities:

We The Others

2024 / 55 min / Italy

Director: Francesca Molteni

Shot several years after Fernando Campana's passing, his brother Humberto leads audiences through the iconic duo's humble beginnings, their prolific creative journey, and their enduring commitment to social and environmental impact. With behind-the-scenes access, the documentary explores Parque Campana, their studio’s latest initiative—an architectural park that is a tribute to creativity rooted in community, craft, and nature.

Changing Lanes

2025 / 73 min / US

Director: Ben Wolf

This film is more than about bike lanes—it's about politics, democracy, and how things do (or don't) get done in cities. In both Vancouver and Toronto, the screenings are followed by panels with local speakers who are passionate about bike lanes. Bike to the cinema if you can!

The Big Brutal Quiz

Event Host: Joël León Danis

Join us for a lively quiz show hosted by architect Joël León Danis. This first-of-its-kind ADFF event is a trivia night that dives into the dramatic intersection of brutalist design and film. Rather than a single film, you'll see clips from 20 films and test your knowledge of an iconic architectural style.

Tracing Light

2024 / 99 min / Germany

Director: Thomas Riedelsheimer

Director Thomas Riedelsheimer is well know for Rivers and Tides, his films on the artist Andy Goldsworthy. This film bring his skills to looking at light—how it works, how we perceive it, and how it effects our emotions. It is both a science film and a design film. Without light there is no architecture. Tracing Light will make you rethink how light shapes every building and every landscape.
