Subject: ADFF:NY Starts Tomorrow!

September 27, 2022

ADFF:NY — presented by Eventscape — starts tomorrow with some great films and interesting talks. This year's slate of films is impressive; many featuring women — and almost half directed by women! Many of the films also feature important social and environmental issues, but the one thing they all have in common: a compelling design story.

Opening night at SVA Theatre (333 West 23rd Street) will require masks and proof of Covid vaccination; all other screenings at Chelsea Cinépolis across the street will not require masks. There, you’ll find the ADFF Lounge with a full bar. Plus, you can now bring food and drinks to your seats. Also in the lounge will be a pop-up book store, along with some beautiful furniture and lighting.

Two free events associated with ADFF:NY

First, tonight, Sept 27th, the Gothete Institute in NY will be screening Bowling Lanes - a film that ADFF screened in 2016. This was the first film by the directors Thomas Beyer and Adrian Dorschner, who are the directors of Robin Hood Gardens which will have its world premiere at ADFF:NY on Friday, Sept 30th. Bowling Lanes is about an underground bowling alley where all of the cool people hung out in Leipzig, East Germany before the wall came down. It was a place of freedom and expression in a repressed country. Click here to reserve seats

Then, on Sept 30th at 5:00, the Swiss photographer Hélène Binet will give a talk about her work. She is featured in the film Robin Hood Gardens and will be at the Q&A after the film's world premiere. For more info and to reserve seats, click this link -  Hélène Binet In Conversation With Space
