ADFF:Chicago opened last night with sold-out screenings of We Start With the Things We Find, and a Q&A with LOT-EK founders Ada Tolla and Giuseppe Lignano as well as the film's director, Tom Piper moderated by architect, Monica Chadha.

We've designed our way into a climate crisis, and now we have to design our way out. TerraForma focuses on a remote desert island that was engineered into a tropical paradise. House of Adaptation examines a climate-adaptive building that will float with rising sea levels.

Radical Landscapes

Following the death of visionary architect Fabrizio Fiumi, his daughter Elettra embarks on a quest to discover her father’s radical past. Her encounters reveal an unknown page of contemporary Florentine history, a world of utopian collages and gardens in nightclubs.

The Promise: Architect B.V. Doshi

2023 / 90 min / Germany

Balkrishna Doshi, one of India’s most influential 20th-century architects, passed away in 2023 at 95 years old. The Promise provides audiences with the gift of getting to know Doshi, a soft-spoken humanist with distinctly modern designs.


The film will be introduced by Cyrus Rivetna, a Chicago architect and former Doshi colleague.
