ADFF:Toronto — presented by Eventscape — starts next Wednesday, November 2. Not only do we have great films, but we are also thrilled to present an excellent lineup of guest speakers. Special thanks to the Toronto Society of Architects, which partners with us to curate our Toronto panels.

Becky Hutner

Nov 2 - Fashion Reimagined 


Director Becky Hutner, a native of Toronto who now lives in London, will join us after the film for a Q&A. This is the opening night film and will be followed by a party at Arcane. The design thinking and environmental issues in this film are universal, resonating with audiences at ADFF:NY as well as major film festivals around the world. Toronto will be its Canadian Premiere.

Michael McClelland

Nov 3 - Robin Hood Gardens


After the screening, Azure Senior Editor Stefan Novakovic will talk with Architect Michael McClelland, Founding Principal of ERA Architects, about public housing in Toronto and other ideas launched by the film.

Nicolas Koff

Nov 4 - Building Bastille! The Tangled and Improbable Story of the Opera Bastille


Alex Bozikovic, the Architecture Critic at The Globe and Mail, will speak with partners at Office Ou, including Nicolas Koff, Sebastian Bartnicki, and Uros Novakovic. about the various themes of the film, including the interaction of politics and architecture and what it takes to complete a project of this scale.

Jeff Forrest

Nov 5 - Grethe Meyer– The Queen of Danish Design


Jeff Forrest, founder of Toronto-based multidisciplinary design practices STACKLAB and STACKABL, and Eric Mutrie, Senior Editor at AZURE Magazine, will discuss Meyer's combination of humanist thinking and scientific methodology.

Nov 5 - A World to Shape


Juliette Cook, architectural designer at MASS Design Group, and Stephanie Mah, Creative Director at Giaimo, will discuss the future of design as displayed in A World to Shape.

Nov 11 - Robin Hood Gardens


Marta Farevaag, founding Principal of PFS Studio, will moderate a conversation about housing in Vancouver with Lilian Chau (CEO of Entre Nous Femmes Housing Society), Dr. Paty Rios (Senior Public Space Stewardship Planner at the City of Vancouver), and Bill Yuen (Executive Director of Heritage Vancouver Society).

Jennell Stanley

Nov 12 - Outside In


This panel includes Jennell Stanley, a designer who is featured in the film and the owner of Studio 309 Design. The two filmmakers, Ryan Mah and Danny Berish, will join us as well, along with Natalie Telewiak, who is a Principal at Michael Green Architecture (MGA).
