Subject: Scholar's Corner - The Real World of Numbers - June 30th

Scholar's Corner: Health Promotion Anyone?
Thursday June 30th, 6:30-8:00 pm, 7th floor Patio (or 24th floor if inclement weather) Blue Sky Hotel

For many, mathematics and calculations are something to be endured as a student and forgotten once you enter the “real world”. But in reality, mathematics is moving out of the chalky halls of academia and into the realms of predictive modelling, financial analysis, advertising, social media and nearly every part of our modern life.

This week, we want to meet and celebrate those who see more than just numbers but are describing and changing the world we live in. We are proud to have as our guest host for the evening Prof. Jonathan Dawes from Bath University and Deputy Director of the Centre for Networks and Collective Behavior, one of the world’s foremost applied mathematicians.

Scholar’s Corner events are informal gatherings where interested individuals can meet, share their research, their interests and make new connections. It is open to students, academics, experts and arm chair scholars.

The event is organized by the American Center for Mongolian Studies. This event is open to all interested in the topic of discussion.

Cash bar will be available for those wishing to have a meal or beverage.
