An Anthology of Mongolian KhÖÖmii:
A Tool For The Transmission of KhÖÖmii Heritage

Speakers: Johanni Curtet & Nomindari Shagdarsuren

5:30 PM, Tuesday July 4th, 2017, American Corner, Ulaanbaatar public library

Following the inscription of Mongolian Traditional Art of Khöömii on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010, ethnomusicologist Johanni Curtet and specialist of intangible cultural heritage Nomindari Shagdarsuren have worked since 2011 to create a reference documentation on the Mongolian khöömii tradition, which resulted in this record.

Through 43 tracks, including 28 previously unreleased, this double disc gathers the essentials of Mongolian khöömii, from early sound archives to the present day, showing the history and evolution of the art over sixty years (1954- 2016) and three generations.

Speakers Johanni Curtet and Nomindari Shagdarsuren will present this work for the CD launch in Mongolia.
