It's hard to believe the new academic year is already starting!
Did you learn about Mongolia in school? Who was your favorite teacher? What did you learn from them?
I remember first learning about Mongolia in the fifth grade, when my class studied Marco Polo’s journey to Asia and the years he spent with Khubilai Khan. I was enchanted by the descriptions of the city of Karakorum, and spent hours imagining what this place must have looked like and how Marco Polo must have felt upon arriving in the city after such a long journey.
Of course, Mongolia is now just a plane ride away.
And every year, ACMS brings numerous K-12 teachers and college and university faculty members to Mongolia. Over the coming weeks, keep your eye on our newsletter and social media, where we will be sharing the stories of just a few of these educators and their experiences with ACMS.
The educators we serve come to Mongolia for a variety of reasons: to participate in our Mongolia Field School courses, institutionally-sponsored professional development programs, or our Overseas Faculty Development Seminar, to conduct their own research or spend a semester teaching at one of Mongolia’s many educational institutions, and even just for fun.
But all of these educators—from pre-service and first-year teachers to experienced teacher trainers and professors—bring what they learn in Mongolia back to their classrooms to share with their students. They also find community, clarity, and re-energized purpose during their time with ACMS. Our work with teachers is so impactful that it has become a cornerstone of our vision for the future of ACMS.

Your donation will allow us to better support educators who wish to join our Field Schools, help us implement programming for Mongolian teachers and librarians, and enable us to continue supporting every current and future teacher and professor who comes through our doors.
