Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence Continues to Support Excellent Cardiology Programs

Despite other accreditation bodies such as the Joint Commission suspending normal survey activities due to COVID-19, Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE) will continue to support quality cardiology programs throughout this crisis by accrediting facilities with virtual site visits.
ACE maintains a remote operations, peer-review and supportive workflow, which means that social distancing and travel restrictions do not significantly impact our processes or the degree of support we can offer hospitals and organizations in need of quality measurement. While we have suspended in-person site visits for the near future, ACE continues to offer comprehensive, supportive site reviews, virtually.
ACE leadership believes that quality measurement and supportive accreditation are more important than ever in the current global health crisis. "With clinicians overwhelmed with this pandemic and the noise of the media, it can be difficult to access sound, calm advice and perspectives," says ACE Operations Director Peggy McElgunn, Esq. "The outside perspective our experts provide is crucially important in this environment—especially as we learn more about how COVID-19 affects cardiovascular health."

ACE also continues to support our bi-weekly Quality Matters newsletter which we hope serves as a valuable resource for clinicians to keep up-to-date with the latest, crucial clinical science and developments.
The widespread impact of the novel coronavirus and COVID-19 mean that important clinical science developments relevant to cardiology and clinical healthcare, in general, are receiving faster and more widespread media coverage which may or may not be scientifically rigorous and useful in guiding practice. While at the same time, the reality that there is much we do not know about COVID-19 means that scientific news coverage and guidance for clinicians is all the more important.
We hope that Quality Matters at cvqualitymatters.org helps clinicians cut through the noise and also facilitates critical best practice discussions.
