The Third Annual State of Canada's Cities Summit

Shaping What’s Next for Urban Canada:

City Builders Are Coming Together This Fall Ahead of CUI's Summit

At a hinge moment for cities across Canada, CUI is deepening its role as a convenor and catalyst for change. Leading up to the third annual State of Canada's Cities Summit, we’re hosting a series of gatherings to connect local realities with national conversations and move from insight to action. Read on to learn more about our regional roundtables, a new series on initiatives to accelerate housing development, the State of Canada’s Cities Summit, and more.

CUI’s Regional Roundtables:

Building a Better Canada

The federal government’s ambitious nation-building agenda can only succeed if it’s rooted in local realities. That’s why this fall, CUI is co-hosting a series of pan-Canada roundtables with local partners to bring together community, municipal, Indigenous, business, and civil society leaders from across the country to share local insights, surface solutions, and strengthen collaboration.

The ideas and priorities emerging from these discussions will inform the Summit agenda, ensuring this national convening reflects regional perspectives from coast-to-coast-to-coast.

Accelerating Housing Development in Canada: Regional Information Sessions

CUI, Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) and the newly launched Build Canada Homes (BCH) federal agency are hosting a series of information sessions designed for the developer community.

These 90-minute virtual sessions are designed for those interested in accessing funding from CIB to build housing-related infrastructure. Attendees will receive comprehensive information about CIB’s Infrastructure for Housing Initiative (IHI), including its offerings, how it will accelerate housing development, eligible infrastructure assets, project eligibility, how it complements existing federal programs, and more.

Attendees will also learn more about BCH and its plans to leverage public lands, offer flexible financial incentives, attract private capital, facilitate large portfolio projects, and support modern manufacturers to build the homes that Canadians need.

Each info session targets a different Canadian region surrounding these cities:

Edmonton & Calgary

Victoria, Vancouver, & Kelowna

Winnipeg

Saskatoon & Regina

If you are a member of the residential housing development community or a municipal staff person, this information session is for you. Email us at cui@canurb.org if interested in participating.
