Launching: New Support for Rural Centres in Alberta

Is your municipality working with an Agricultural Society to operate community hubs like recreation centres, halls, kitchens, fairgrounds, or rodeo grounds?

The Climate Ready Infrastructure Service (CRIS), in partnership with Infrastructure Asset Management Alberta (IAMA), is offering free expert consultation to eligible local governments in Alberta. This support can help retrofit, design, or build facilities that anchor rural life.

Local governments in Alberta who manage shared facilities with Agricultural Societies and serve a community of 30,000 or less are eligible for support. Get expert guidance on your project to:

  • Lower operational costs: Identify energy-efficient retrofits that reduce energy bills and help keep fees accessible for residents.

  • Protect community assets: Strengthen facilities so they can withstand heat, storms, and other climate impacts—reducing future repair and insurance costs.

  • Align with future funding: Receive a tailored Technical Options Report to support federal and provincial capital grant applications.

Deadline Extended: Resilient Roads Cohort

Floods, fires, and extreme weather are putting pressure on critical road networks. The Resilient Roads Cohort provides free expert support to help communities protect, adapt, and plan with resilience.

This national cohort is open to local governments, municipalities, First Nations, and unincorporated communities across Canada serving populations under 30,000. Register a roadway-related infrastructure project and be matched with a subject-matter expert to receive up to $20,000 in professional consultation at no cost.

Don't miss the new deadline: January 16th, 2026

Does your community have infrastructure upgrades or design projects planned that don't fit into our open calls?

Submit a service request for infrastructure in any asset class to receive free one-on-one consultation from an expert. Visit our website to discover the program eligibility and register your project in as little as 15 minutes.
