Alberta Climate Resilience Cohort:

Calling Alberta communities! Thinking about a climate resilience project but not sure how to get started?


Join this interactive working session on July 8th at 10:30am MT to learn how to access free expert support through the Alberta Climate Resilience Cohort and get dedicated working time to draft your Expression of Interest (EOI) or even complete a CRIS application.


In this session, you will:

  • Learn what support is offered through the cohort

  • See how CRIS projects work in practice

  • Understand what to expect from a Technical Options Report

  • Work directly on your EOI or service request with support from the team

Resilient Housing Cohort (National):

Planning a retrofit, major renewal, or new housing development? Join us and program partner CHRA for an information session on the Resilient Housing Cohort, a new initiative supporting eligible housing providers with free expert technical guidance to advance climate-resilient housing projects across Canada.


Open to non-profit, municipal, Indigenous, co-operative, and community housing providers operating fewer than 1,000 units, the cohort can support projects through energy audits, technical planning, engineering guidance, climate resilience strategies, and funding and financing opportunities.


Info sessions are available in English and French to walk participants through project eligibility, available services, the application process, timelines, and what organizations can expect from participating.


Register for virtual sessions on July 16th at 1pm ET (in English) and 2pm ET (in French) to access free expert consultation to plan, design, and deliver more resilient housing.

CRIS Success Story: Haines Junction, Yukon

The Village of Haines Junction is planning a new Healthy Living Centre in partnership with the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations. The facility will replace the former decommissioned community centre and provide modern recreation and wellness spaces for residents while preparing for future climate challenges.


As a Yukon community with a cold climate, the project team recognized that the previous facility had high operating costs. They requested support through CRIS to explore ways to improve energy efficiency, reduce costs, and lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the design and operation of the new recreation centre.


Through CRIS, engineers provided the Village with options for Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) and renewable energy use. The CRIS Report also assessed climate hazards such as wildfires and wildfire smoke, extreme rainfall, and permafrost thaw, helping ensure the new centre is prepared for future climate conditions.
