CRIS Opportunities & Updates This Month

Alberta: Climate Resilience Cohort Now Open

To support Albertan communities facing wildfire, drought, and extreme heat, we're partnering with the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC), to launch a new CRIS cohort focused on climate resilience strategies for public housing and infrastructure.

Participants will receive one-on-one support from a member of the CRIS Roster of experts, alongside peer learning opportunities to connect with Albertan communities facing similar challenges and align with funding opportunities for their projects.

Saskatchewan: Ice Rink Retrofit Support

Last year, 15 small and rural communities from across Saskatchewan participated in the CRIS Ice Rink Cohort, a hands‑on program designed to improve their ice rink upgrade projects, lower costs, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Many communities started with similar problems, like old arenas, high operating costs, and poor heating, cooling, insulation, and energy use.

Through the cohort, participants gained clarity on project scope and early design considerations, strengthened their understanding of funding pathways, and left with clear roadmaps to move their rink or arena upgrades forward.

Have a project planned for your rink in SK? Join the 2026 Cohort!

Local governments in Saskatchewan planning an ice rink upgrade or retrofit are invited to attend this free one-day session at the SPRA Spring Training Symposium. Make sure your investment is future-proof and cost-effective and receive a follow up energy study at no cost.
