Hi Friend,
We in the northern hemisphere need ways to enter Winter: so often it is accompanied with cold and (literal) darkness.
Dominant culture acts as if December is all bright lights and buying lots of things and getting other people to buy lots of things (especially if that gets you more revenue).
There ARE other ways of engaging with this sacred season.
Ways that bring you not only into quiet, but into greater connection with your more-than-human kin.
Two of my dear ritual-creating friends, Amy Kietzman and Rev Rhetta Morgan, and I have, for the last two years, created this "advent" series for the Winter Solstice.
I admit I was surprised by how much it helped me engage with the growing darkness/cold.
It's deceptively simple. And easy. And soul-warming. And focused on Winter Solstice (not Christmas). And fun.
You can join us for one or all of this three-part series.
We meet at sunset est: 3:30-4:30 in the normal place (zoom). Starting tomorrow (Wednesday).
We read a story from the amazingly beautiful children's book, All Creation Waits (you do not have to buy it to join us, but if you like beautifully illustrated books, I do recommend it).
While we are using the Christian term of "Advent" and we are using a children's book that is generally in the 'Christian books' category, this is not a Christian series. And Christians are definitely welcome! Earths seasons speak to all of us, wherever we are from. Nor is it "for" children - and children are welcome!
So this is for all of you who like animal stories…
and contemplation….
and music/song/sound…
and heart-warming spaces in the midst of whatever noise and busy/ness you've got going on in your life.
You are welcome to join us!
Oh - and if you read this before 12 noon est on Tuesday, you might want to join our upcoming remembering webinar which is today also!
