Dear Friends,
Here is the message.
These are momentous times.
Times to remember.
To remember a thousand years of peace.
Not in some far away land. But in reality. Here.
Approximately a thousand years ago, the moon passed over the sun, darkening the sky. On earth, the different nations of what was in the midst of becoming the Haudenosaunee Confederacy gathered together, laying down their weapons of war, and participated in bringing forth what we now refer to as the Great Law of Peace. Creatures of the night and creatures of the day gathered around them, in witness and in participation.
Throughout the last 1000 years, the Great Law of Peace and that matrilineal process of peace has held strong.
It directly contributed to what we now refer to as 'western democracy' - though the form missed much of the cosmovision, and thus missed much of what was possible.
On Monday, tomorrow, the moon will once again pass over the sun along a path that, based on research from NASA, has not happened since the Haudenosaunee Confederacy began.
In the past 1000 years, the peace within the Haudenosaunee Confederacy has held. Stories and governance processes and song and dance continue to guide the peoples. These days, much is being actively remembered after centuries of attempts by the settler-colonial political-economic-culture of violently enforcing forgetting.
The peace is already here.
What will these next 1000 years bring?
And how might we, wherever our ancestors are from, and wherever we may now live, prepare ourselves for the next 1000 years... of peace?
Blessings to you in these times -
Sara Jolena
