   THE BUSINESS of GOVERNANCE

   Newsletter No 114 | May 2025

Hello Friend,

How are you? We are just a few weeks away from the half year mark. This year, I made a quiet promise to read more books that renew the mind and sharpen my perspective. I’ve always found books to be a grounding force, a reminder of the bigger picture behind the day-to-day busyness of leadership.

But in all honesty, I’ve struggled to keep that resolution. The demands of governance, the pace of politics, and the constant rhythm of service have made that quiet time elusive. Still, I remain committed to trying again and doing better.

I want to use this opportunity to thank everyone who came from far and near to be part of the World Egungun Festival 2025 which took place in Ibadan today. As a government, we will continue to promote and support our cultural heritage as the Pacesetter State and the sanctuary of Yoruba culture.

Also, earlier today, I had the honour of speaking at the World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) conference in South Africa. It was an opportunity to share what we’ve been doing in Oyo State to reshape our agribusiness landscape. From flood control measures to our push for international partnerships, it was encouraging to see our efforts recognised on a global platform. The work continues, but it helps to pause and acknowledge how far we’ve come.

In the same spirit of renewal and continuity, we’ve made a few strategic changes within the cabinet by reassigning some commissioners to new ministries. I am confident that these leaders will bring fresh energy to their new portfolios and deliver on the trust we’ve placed in them.

And finally, as part of our continuing response to the tragic Bodija Incident of January 2024, the Executive Council has approved the disbursement of N4.5 billion in support for victims. We remain resolute in our commitment to justice, support, and reforms that will prevent such a tragedy from ever occurring again.

Thank you, as always, for walking this journey with us. The work of building a better Oyo State is not just mine, it belongs to all of us. And every step forward, no matter how small, counts.

Talk to you again soon,
