One of our precious intercessors reached out the morning after last week’s message on “Searching for the Voice of the Lord Amid the Chaos”. With permission, I share the following:
As I place my heart before the throne concerning “the voice of the prophets” during this time, the Lord reminds me of something my father said to me when I was very young.
My father was a merchant marine when he walked on this earth. He told me of an experience he had once while crossing the tip of the “Devils Triangle”. He said that a sudden fog had set in as they came across the tip. The fog was so great no one could visibly see anything. The instruments were no longer able to determine their location. As they sailed along, suddenly a fork appeared before them with one side veering to the left and the other to the right. At this point, the captain approached my dad and asked what he thought they should do. My father’s response was this: (paraphrased from memory)
Sir, the course has manually been set. I believe we should remain on course.
The captain agreed, so no changes were made to the course trajectory.
As they continued to sail according to the set trajectory, the ship seemed to sail toward the fork on the right. Without any changes in course, the ship sailed through the fog.
He then said to me, if a fog sets in life, do not change course, because eventually the fog will clear. In this place, you will see clearly to plot your course. It is important to note; my father was not a follower of Jesus.
I am reminded of my father’s words, as the nation traverses through a “tipping point” of the Devil’s Triangle, with the many voices of “the fog of war”. So therefore, I will continue to remain on course in prayer as set by WFJM. God will sail the ship through to the other side.
This precious memory summarizes not only the heart of an intercessor who understands that it is God Who plotted this course for us, but how, decades ago, when they were only a child, God set them on the course they are on with us today.
Friends, the fog is settling in, and we must stay the course that God set before us as intercessors as we navigate the Devil’s Triangle.
What is the Devil’s Triangle? Where do we find it on a map? It’s the Bermuda Triangle. It’s a place where a sudden fog sets in that is so thick, so disorienting, it thrusts even the most experienced navigators into chaos. Many famous pilots have been so disoriented flying over this region, they lost sight of landmarks, began to distrust their instruments, and flew way off course until they ultimately ran out of fuel. Their aircraft plunged into the depths of the sea, never to be recovered. The same holds true for ships, they become so disoriented in the fog, they begin to lose sight of their course, their instruments seem to deceive them, and they veer off course into the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. Experience and wisdom dictate that you follow your instruments when fog sets in, but if one does not trust them and instead, listening to the many voices telling them to go one way or another, they will be lost in the fog of war.
As one raised in the Central Valley, where visibility can drop so low it is measured in yards not miles, in other words, we reach zero visibility, I can tell you, trusting the instruments to fly in and out of Fresno is essential. And even then, there are times in which fog will ground the most experienced pilots.
How does this relate to us, as intercessors, in 2026 where the fog has settled in?
God, and His Word, are the primary instruments to guide us through this tipping point of the Devil’s Triangle in which it seems, we have zero visibility. In His mercy, He raised up a remnant of prophets who have paid an extreme cost to help edge us through to the other side where the victory of the Lord resides.
We are indeed in a very thick fog, trying to veer us off course. The primary purpose of these messages is to return us to the course God set before us as we navigate through this fog of war.
There are wars and rumors of wars. The corruption is deep, and even though the Lord began speaking to me about 2026 being The Year of Open Books back in September, I still find it difficult to comprehend the sheer volume of corruption and backroom deals that have occurred right under our noses. There is chaos in the streets trying to disrupt the 2026 elections (remember that as the year progresses). And the economy is being shaken to its core. Why is this happening? Because God is uprooting the darkness within.
Let us not forget about the Epstein files.
If I could just stop for a moment and say, if Trump had been involved in nefarious and inappropriate activity, the Democrats, who were in power and had these files for six years, would have exposed every piece of evidence to put him away forever. Instead, they spent their time going after Trump on bogus, trumped-up charges. As far as the connection with Rothchild’s bailout when he filed bankruptcy decades ago, God is using this too, to break something off the nation. It will be a breaking away from the corrupt, and an anchoring into the new.
Before the 2016 Election, I had a vision of God using every success and failure, every victory and loss that Trump experienced in his lifetime to heal America. We need to pray for God to give him the faith and courage to trust Him even in this as the truth comes out. God is going to use this, to heal America and prepare us for His glory. Do not be afraid.
The enemy really thinks he has us boxed in; corruption, economic crisis, and wars are looming. Chaos is everywhere and the enemy is bringing in the fog. This causes fear and confusion. God’s plan is set in motion. He is not taken off guard by anything that is occurring and that is one of the most important truths for us to stand on. The instruments have been set manually by the Lord! Our destination is locked in, and we must not veer from our course.
Even as I reviewed this, I felt the need to remind everyone that we are in the middle of one of the greatest psyops of my lifetime and remaining on the course God’s set for us will prove more valuable than we realize in the days ahead.
Remember, this is God’s plan, not ours and we will heed the voice of the Lord. This is what a quarter of a century of training has taught us; stay the course! Yes, even as we traverse the Devil’s triangle.
Picking up from last week’s topic, I felt it would be helpful for us to understand the call and purpose of the prophet.
Remember, our goal is to find the still small voice of the Lord amid the chaos and then to pray His Word through to victory.
What is a prophet?
The Hebrew word for prophet is “Navi” which means “one who is called” or “one who announces”
What are they announcing?
The message given to them by the one they serve. If it is a prophet of God, they deliver a message from God to the people.
What is the call or purpose of the prophet of God?
1) To demonstrate the heart of God as we can see in the life of Moses, who rescued the people from bondage under the direction of the Lord and set up the government of God with the rule of law which blanketed the people. (Exodus 20-24)
2) To demonstrate Who God is, how to worship Him, the wonder of His ways as we read throughout the Psalms-David was a king, but he was also a prophet.
3) To teach people the deeper things of God. They help develop discernment and unpack the Scriptures as we see with Prophet Samuel. (1 Samuel 3-25) In addition, they release the Word of the Lord to and over the people to keep them on the path God set before them.
With that preliminary groundwork of “the call of the prophet” laid, for our remaining points, let’s look at one of the greatest battles between good and evil found in the Old Covenant and pull some lessons from it to help guide us as we navigate this season.
I Kings 18:17-18
17 And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel? 18 And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father’s house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the Lord, and thou hast followed Baalim.
Here we have our next two points
The call of the prophet is:
4) Often misunderstood and/or misrepresented: In 1 Kings 17:1, Elijah came and told Ahab there would be no rain until He—the Lord—said otherwise. Ahab blamed Elijah. Ahab was so deep in his sin, he could no longer see its impact on the nation. God covenanted with Solomon in 2 Chronicles 7 that when the people experienced drought, if they repented, He would send them rain. Conversely, if they sinned, they would experience drought. All succeeding kings would know this Covenantal promise, even Ahab. (This is why it’s so important we continue to pray for our leaders)
5) The Call of the Prophet is to bring truth amid the fog of deception: It’s Ahab and his father’s sin the worship of Ba’al that brought about this drought and Eljah immediately cuts through Ahab’s deception with this truth.
I Kings 18:19-24
19 Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves (Asherah) four hundred, which eat at Jezebel’s table. 20 So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel.
21 And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. 22 Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the Lord; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men. 23 Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: 24 and call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.
6) The Call of the Prophet is to call the people to repentance. A prophet has a true fear of God and because of this, there is an anointing or mantle upon them that forces people into a position where they must decide between repenting and following God or continuing on in their sin. Their hearts are truly convicted under the instruction or correction of the prophet.
Continuing on in 1 Kings 18:25-35
25 And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under. 26 And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made. 27 And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing (occupied), or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked. 28 And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them. 29 And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.
30 And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down. 31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the Lord came, saying, Israel shall be thy name: 32 and with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed. 33 And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood. 34 And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time. 35 And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.
7) The Call of the Prophet is to demonstrate Who the One True God is-we see this in his mockery of Ba’al, he demonstrates the powerlessness of this god they’d been worshiping. Elijah knew God would respond, he was instructed by the Lord on exactly what to do, how to enter into this challenge, and the end result. He went forward in faith, trusting God to show Himself as the One True God.
8) The Call of the Prophet is to repair the breach. As he repairs the altar of the Lord that was broken down (v 30-31) Elijah is demonstrating to the people the importance of this relationship. As he begins to pray in verse 36, Elijah demonstrates the humility with which one comes to the Lord. His goal, to repair the breach between them and their Covenant-keeping God. If His people, called by His name, will humble themselves, repent and pray, He will hear from heaven and heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14 paraphrased)
9) The Call of the Prophet is to demonstrate the power and efficacy of God. Elijah built the altar and ordered it to be doused with water three times. No one expecting to light a fire under the sacrifice out of their own resources would have done such a thing. With all their trickery, the prophets of Ba’al and Asherah never would have attempted such a foolish thing.
1 Kings 18:36-39
36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word. 37 Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.
38 Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. 39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The Lord, he is the God; the Lord, he is the God.
10) The Call of the Prophet is to call the people out of compromise. They demonstrate Who God is to the people who have gone so far astray as to sacrifice their own children to Ba’al and Asherah in an effort to end the drought. This is a covenantal prayer, demonstrating a heart of humility before the God who chose them, that He might show Himself real to the people who seemed to have lost sight of the One True God! After watching 850 prophets dance around and cut themselves for hours to no avail, the stark contrast of Elijah bowing low before God had to have left an impression on their hearts.
I Kings 18:40
40 And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.
11) The Call of the Prophet is to expose and execute God’s judgment over the demonic realm. In our text, I Kings 18, Elijah fulfills this role beautifully. The battle stage is Mount Carmel, chosen precisely because Baal worshipers claimed it as sacred high ground. By calling down fire on a rain-starved ridge and then praying the drought-breaking storm in view of the sea, Elijah demonstrated that the Lord—and not the Canaanite storm-god—controls both fire and rain. It’s important to note, as Christians, we are restrainers of evil, but to go after a demonic principality such as the one employed by Jezebel, you need a prophetic mantle.
I Kings 18:41-46
41 And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. 42 So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, 43 and said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. (tradition holds that this servant is the son of the widow of Zarephath) And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. 44 And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not. 45 And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel. 46 And the hand of the Lord was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
12) The Call of the Prophet is to demonstrate how to seek the face of God. Humbly, repeatedly, and rising up expectantly.
This is truly an epic battle between good and evil, between the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the prophets of Ba’al. As powerful as they may seem in the King’s Court under Jezebel, on Mount Carmel, God puts a cap on them, because His plan was to show Himself real to the nation of Israel, the king and Jezebel herself. As we know, Jezebel becomes an iconic figure as she becomes synonymous with one who opposes God.
Conversely, the prophet is one who announces God.
Prophets to the Nations
A person is created by God to be a prophet to a nation. Jeremiah 1:5 tells us this. Not everyone who receives a dream or word that is accurate is a prophet. They may have a prophetic gifting, but that does not mean they are a prophet. Nor does it imply they are a prophet to the nation. People are often too quick to slap that label on a person, and honestly, there are those who are too quick to receive the label of prophet. Look at how many are falling right now. It is a heavy mantle to carry; no one should take it lightly.
Preparation of a Prophet to the Nation
Let’s briefly consider the individual—the prophet. A prophet created by God to be a prophet to the nation, does not come out of the womb ready to take on the likes of Jezebel. It takes a life of prayer to equip a person to hear through the fog of the Devil’s Triangle if you will. And one must absolutely be a student of the Word because what God releases in this hour, will not conflict with the nature and character of Who He is in His Word.
The dedication to the call they were created for is above all temporal things. God will begin to prepare them well in advance for the battles they will face.
Elijah’s epic battle on Mount Carmel is the first thing we think of when we hear the name Elijah. However, in preparation for that battle we read in 1 Kings 18, he spent 3 ½ years largely in isolation. He seemed to “appear” on the scene as God’s response to the rampant idolatry occurring in the nation. He came, confronted Ahab, said there’d be no rain until he—Elijah—prayed for it to come forth. (1 Kings 17:1) Then as quickly as he came, God tucked him away to protect him from Ahab and Jezebel’s wrath. Think about that for a moment. He doesn’t travel the circuit, announcing to every town why he made that proclamation and how he felt about Ahab’s response. Elijah announces the Word of the Lord and seemingly disappears.
Elijah’s call was a call to repentance, not personal fame.
He was sent by the Lord to Cherith—east of the Jordan—where God miraculously provided for him by food brought by ravens (not givers by nature), and then, when the brook he camped at dried up, he was sent by the Lord to go and stay with the widow at Zarephath where she fed him with oil and grain, again, miraculously sustained by God. (Tradition holds that the servant who went to check for rain after the battle on Mount Carmel was over, was this widow’s son.)
The Prophet Embraces the Wilderness Seasons, for they are plenty.
Those three and-a-half-years were a wilderness season for Elijah, a time of deep sanctification in preparation for what God created him to do. It’s important to note that this entire season Ahab was hunting him down like an animal to take his life as though that was somehow going to end the drought, but Elijah was Divinely protected and preserved. Elijah’s wilderness period was undoubtedly spent in prayer and meditating on the Word that he devoured as a boy. This place, hidden under the shelter of the Almighty, needed to feel like a second skin to him if he was to face the Devil’s triangle: Ahab, Jezebel, and their demonic hoard of prophets—without being consumed. Every word, every step had to be ordered by God and recognizing His voice amid the chaos was key to his survival.
Prophetic Purpose
Finally, God uses His prophets to announce his heart on the issue, never to increase their popularity. John the Baptist, who came in the spirit of Elijah, called people to repentance, preparing the way for the Lord to come on the scene. His purpose was to get the nation spiritually ready and prepared to recognize Jesus when He came. The end-time prophets will do the same.
The purpose of the prophet is to release the Word of the Lord, to teach, to judge, to bring wisdom, knowledge, understanding and discernment to situations at hand. The prophet knows the Word of God and spends their entire existence viewing history through that lens. They have more than a Biblical worldview, they perceive everything through the lens of the Lord to see how He and what is speaking today. In other words, the prophet can see through the fog and maintain a fixed gaze on the coordinates as set by the Lord as we traverse the Devil’s Triangle and world moves into utter chaos. They can be at peace in the storm because the Lord has already given them to see through to the other side and as such, they can help keep the Church, and especially the intercessors, on target so we can pray according to His will and keep the nation in which we live stable amid the chaos.
I hope this brings clarity to the call and purpose of the prophet; it has not changed. God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Next time we will discuss how to recognize the voice of the Lord, in other words, have discernment in terms of prophecy, and talk about how and why it is important to provide a fence around true words from the Lord.
Blessings and love,
