God wants people to desire the true and living God. We worship a God who is a figment of our imagination, without much resemblance to the One in the Bible. He wants us to desire His holiness, His glory, and to see, know, and understand Him the way He really is. If we will just desire that, He will come and reveal the God we do not know. The deeper I go, the more I realize I did not know the truth about Him. The truth is more wonderful and more fearful than anything I could have ever believed. He is the One I want to know. How about you?
This is His Word for you:
Genesis 17:7 Amp. And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting, solemn pledge, to be a God to you and to your posterity after you.
Isn't it a marvelous thing that the God who created heaven and earth, who sustains you with His Word, is saying to you, “I want to be a God to you. I want to be your covenant God. I want to separate you from all the peoples of the earth that I might reveal Myself to you.” I want you to think about who I am talking about. This is not just something you casually read in the Bible. This is about our God, who created everything that is. He has a heart, feelings, plans, purposes, destinies, and He has thoughts about you. This is about your God and you.
If the Father were to come to you today, do you think you would recognize Him? The disciples were with the Father for three years, and yet they still did not know Him. They thought they knew Him, but they said to Him, “Show us the Father.” (John 14:8) Jesus was in awe. He replied, “Have I been with all of you for so long a time, and you do not recognize and know Me yet?” (John 14:9a Amp.) I feel His fire shooting up and down my soul right now. He wants to talk to you in such a way as to redefine your relationship with Him. He wants you to let Him out of the proverbial box and dare to find what you will find. It is not at all what you think you will find. He wants you to be bold in your passion, be bold in your desire, and be bold in your faith. He wants you to be willing to see the deeper things of His heart and the greater things that are on His mind.
However, you have to be separated. Think about how long Abraham walked with the Lord. When he was ninety-nine years old, the Lord said to him, “I want to separate you from all the peoples of the earth.” His Spirit is burning my heart. Abraham was ninety-nine years old at that point. He has had visitations from the Lord. He has put everything on the line for God for years. The Lord said, “I want to separate you. I am El Shaddai, the God who brings reason out of chaos.” He wanted to separate Abraham from all the peoples of the earth. How did He do it? The Lord said, “You shall circumcise yourself.” (Genesis 17:10) The Lord was saying, “I want to be your God, but there is something that I'm requiring of you for that purpose.”
