Recent sightings: out-of-town visitors stop by Deception Pass | | It’s not very often that we get to watch orcas travel under the Deception Pass Bridge, but that’s exactly what our July 29th trips from Port Townsend had in store for us! Guests and crew aboard Red Head and Saratoga were wowed by a unique grouping of orcas, including regular visitors T137A, T69E, T36, T36B1, T36B1A, and T36B4, as well as a number of out-of-town visitors: California Bigg’s! T135 (CA27), T135C (CA27C), and T135F (CA27F) are most often reported around the Monterey Bay area and are not often sighted in the waters of the Salish Sea, which made this experience even more special! July was a great month overall with whales spotted on every trip! | | 🐋 Trip tip: bring layers! | Here in the PSE office, we often get asked what to expect on the water temperature-wise, and our advice tends to be the same: bring layers! While we may be in the height of summer, it can often be much cooler out on the water, so we'd recommend bringing a hoodie/sweater and a coat just in case. Every passenger aboard our vessels will have a seat, and you are welcome to leave any unneeded layers there, but we say come prepared, just in case! | | Last chance: summer puffin cruises | | As we head towards the end of the summer season, we have a few last chances to hop aboard a puffin cruise from our locations in Seattle (Edmonds) and Port Townsend!
