October Whale Report - Humpbacks & Bigg's Orcas Galore!

While autumn brings cooler temperatures, our whale sightings this season have been hot! Large groupings of humpback whales continue to gather in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, as they finish feeding before resuming their migratory journeys. On many of our trips we are seeing 10-15 humpbacks, including Hemlock, Vega, Pinnacle, Zillion, Victory, Merlin, and many others.

Not to be outdone, Bigg's orcas are also keeping quite busy throughout the Salish Sea. We've recently spent time viewing the T46B1 family who have a very cute new baby. Other recent encounters have included the T123s, T60D/E, T36s, T75Bs, T137s, and the T65Bs.

On September 15, our Port Townsend All-day tour had a VERY special encounter with a Fin whale - the 2nd largest whale species in the world! Our last sighting of a Fin whale was in 2017, so this was a real treat.

This is the final week of our Port Angeles tours for 2025. It's been an incredible season and we are grateful for all who were able to join us. Our Port Townsend half-day tour will continue to run through the end of November, and our Seattle (Edmonds) half-day tour will run through the end of the year.
