Cannabis Industry

What is taking LA (Los Angeles) so long?

Being one of the largest cities in the state of California, Los Angeles is definitely a great location for business, especially cannabis businesses. Currently the only existing cannabis businesses in Los Angeles are Existing Medical Marijuana Businesses (EMMB). Los Angeles has not yet began accepting applications from the general public due to the confusion and complications Prop. D has set in place. However the Department of Cannabis Regulation (the “DCR”) has recently hired 21 new employees to try and sort things out in order to speed the process of reviewing and accepting applications.

However, there is still no official date when LA will be begin accepting general applications.

Commercial Real Estate in the Cannabis industry

Our very own Justin Galindo was recently published in the January 2018 article The New Normal by Marijuana Business Magazine . Explaining what the new memo released by Jeff Sessions means for Cannabis Entrepreneurs and landlords. The Memo released early this year by Sessions complicated the process for the Entrepreneurs in the cannabis industry-or anyone looking for property for their cannabis business.

Due to Sessions recent involvement and prohibition attempts, landlords are now worried that the federal government might get involved and take action towards the landlords and their properties.

Jeff sessions and this memo is a reminder for cannabis Entrepreneurs and landlords to always stay in compliance with cannabis regulations and the ever changing laws.

However the reason why some landlords still want to get involved is because this industry is creating a real estate boom. If a landlord has a properly zoned location they can get well over market price when leasing and top dollar for selling.

Getting involved in the cannabis industry can be rewarding but you and your business need a strong team of professionals to make sure you are successful and follow the rules. Justin Galindo, has definitely been a great asset to the company and has helped customers find the best location for their business.
