A special election, sports, and a bit of memoir

Because of the news related to a ballot measure in a special election in my hometown of Portland, Oregon, I put out a bonus column over on Substack earlier today:

Yesterday, our regularly scheduled Tuesday column dropped:

Saturday, I wrote more of a memoir piece on Substack. I call it a lament about basketball and a place I once loved dearly.

This led to a great interview I did with a longtime sports journalist in Portland. I'm not going to give away too much, but we agreed and disagreed on different parts of the direction sports is taking in Portland. We recorded that Monday. The podcast should be out by the end of the week if all things go well.

And we have a neat piece planned for Saturday and probably another bonus column on Sunday over at Substack.

Meanwhile, I've been doing all the things I normally do ... and more. Some of my readers have remarked on the amount of content I've been knocking out lately.

In short, I've made some commitments to myself and, by extension, to my family. If I said that doing so isn't a pain in the ass, I'd be lying.

But I also love every minute of what I do.

If you're stuck and need a way out of the rut, well, I've got a few tools in my belt that may be able to help.

As always,

Brian
