Subject: Are you setting personal 'resolutions' this New Year?

Some strategies to help 'imagine your future'

First off, I hate the idea of New Year's resolutions. Most people inevitably lose momentum in the second or third week of the year. Excuses start early in the year.

For most people, it's not worth the mental effort because they will easily quit when the going gets tough. The more reasonable the excuse, the more willing people are to accept failure and thus lower their standard. The lower standard becomes the new normal.

Get stuck in this cycle and you'll have a lifetime of failure, with mediocrity being your peak.

Instead, if you are going to resolve to make some changes, make every day "January 1st." There really is no time like the present.

Yet, here we are. The official New Year is right around the corner. Tomorrow, in fact.

Are you thinking about setting some personal goals? What are your resolutions?

This is, no doubt, a busy time of year. Personally and socially, there can be cards to send, gifts to buy, and parties to attend.

Professionally, there may be reviews, audits, or projects to wrap up before the year's end. It is no wonder that we tend to push everything off until after the holidays.

However, you can use this as an important time of year to take stock—both personally and professionally—to determine whether or not your life is on track.

When was the last time you thought about your life goals and what you want to accomplish? Are you on track to achieving those goals?

No matter how busy this time of year, there is still time to take a quick measurement and evaluate your progress. After all, there will be plenty of time waiting in line, stopped in traffic, and stuck in mindless conversation when your mind is free to think of other things.

It is important to think about your personal goals before New Year’s Eve for a number of reasons. Number one is that it is never a good idea to make life-altering decisions under the influence of alcohol. But there are other important factors too.

During various holiday parties and events you will likely come into contact with a number of people that can inspire you or help you strive for your goals. It is also a popular holiday question so it is a good idea to have a ready answer.

Also this is a natural time to take stock of your life, your success, and your failure. Conduct a personal audit just as so many businesses do.

Of course, it is also important to have your goals clear in your mind so you can get right to work on them. You can start right away, but you should also certainly begin by the real January 2nd.

You want to take full advantage of the New Year. It can be full of promises. That's even more true when you don't quit on yourself.

Do not delay until the holiday decorations are packed away and all the holiday leftovers consumed. Look ahead, plan ahead, and then take action.

It is important to have goals and dreams—or more specifically, an imagined future. This is what makes a successful, happy life possible.

It is still also important to re-evaluate those goals from time to time and it is extremely important to act upon those goals.

Now is the time to your imagined future and make your resolutions so you are ready to get to work on the first day of the New Year.

Still remember, "every day is January 1st." Get going!

As always,

Brian

P.S. — We released our latest e-book today, just in time to close out the year. It is called Passion to Profit: Turning your passion into a profitable side hustle.

We have it for sale over on our page at Gumroad. We even set it up where you can even name your own price. Get it for free if you so choose.

We have a suggested retail price of $17.99 and a suggested minimum price of $8, but you can also get it for nuthin'.

Fair warning: lots of people collect free e-books. Most people never read their free e-books or at least don't take what is inside all too seriously. Thus, most of the consumers of free e-books never act on any of the information in the library of material they have sitting on their computer, smartphone, or Kindle.

I've seen it a hundred times. Don't be one of those slackers.

Now, there is also a free bonus offer at the end of the book that can only be redeemed with a receipt for at least the minimum purchase price of $8. It happens to be a "hot and sweet" deal.
