A lot of people are rushing
to build eCommerce sites
these days.
I'm not saying that's either
good or bad, but you can
figure this out yourself if
you consider these things...
Blog or eCommerce Website?
Here's the thing.
Trends are about what
everybody is jumping at
the moment.
They are not about what's
a wise thing to do.
If everyone rushes to mine
a stream of gold, is it a
good idea or bad?
Well, that depends, doesn't
it? ... on whether the
stream is filled with real
gold or "fools gold."
Now, fools gold looks like
real gold.
It's not immediately apparent
if it's the real deal or not.
But before spending weeks and
months panning for what "seems"
to be gold, don't you think it
would be a good idea to look a
bit more closely into the
situation?
The same thing pertains to
blogging.
Everybody's jumping on the
eCommerce bandwagon these days.
It's definitely "trending."
But is it real gold or just
fool's gold?
The bigger lesson here is to
always look before you leap
at something "everybody" else
is doing.
The more immediate lesson is
to weigh carefully, the
evidence for blogging vs the
evidence for running an
eCommerce website.
Probably the biggest single
issue at hand is Google
ranking, since that's such
an important vehicle for
getting a steady stream of
traffic.
