Subject: [part 5] I hate to admit this, but...

==>

Picking up from the
last lesson, let's
talk briefly about
converting blog visitors
into subscribers to your
email list.

You need 2 ways to
do this primarily.

#1 You need some sort
of a top bar that
invites people to join
your email list.

Do a search for
"Hello Bar" to see
how this works.

If you don't like the
"Hello Bar" then I'd
say to search for
"Hello Bar alternative"

There are several.

I use "WPFront Navigation
Bar" - it's really simple,
looks nice, and will open
in a new tab or window.

It's critical that it opens
in a new tab so people still
have your blog open on their
desktop after clicking to
see your optin offer.

#2 Embed links to your
squeeze page in the text
of your articles.

Check just about any of
my blog posts to see
how I do this.

Again, set the links to

The key to making this
work well is to be sure
everything is congruent.

If your blog is about
dog training, make
your free offer on your
squeeze page about dog
training.

Make your follow up
newsletters all about
dog training.

One of the big reasons
that people fail to
convert visitors to
subscribers and then
to customers or clients
is a break in this
congruency.

I'm going to end this
training series here,
and pick up with some
email marketing training
next.

That way, you'll get an
idea of what to do to
optimize the email list
you build via your blog
or website.

In the meanwhile, if
you have any specific
questions on what I've
taught you in this
series... just hit the
reply and ask.

I promised to show
show you how to make
your blog the center-
piece of your email
program, so you can

1. build your blog

2. get sales

I know this has been
a pretty lengthy
newsletter series,
but I'm doing it
because many, many
of you have been
asking how to do this.

So let me show you
briefly how this can
work on your blog.

Before I do, though,
I just want to tell
you that if you've
missed any of the
first 3 parts of this
series, they're all
copied at the end
of this one.

I do that so you
don't have to go
searching all over
the place for past
emails.

Down to business.

You have a blog
(or it could be
a website, or a
Facebook page or
any place online
where you "do
business."

This is where you
connect with your
crowd of followers
and friends and
peers.

So, this is the
best place to build
your email list.

Forget about buying
ads, placing banners
on other sites and
all the other stuff
marketers do.

Yes, you could build
a list in that way,
but it will be mostly
"cold" leads...

They will be people
who don't know you
or what you do.

It's much better to
work with people who
are familiar with
you and are ready to
get your emails and
read them!

Remember... it's far
far far more important
to have a small list of
people who will read
and engage with your
newsletter, than a big
list of people who pay
very little attention
to them.

You can learn a lot
more about this here...

http://donnamerrilltribe.com/2015/05/shrink-your-email-list/

So, here's the first
thing you need to
do to build an email
list on your blog,
WHILE you build your
blog.

Write more content
that your readers
want and need.

The more content
you put on your blog,
the more often people
will visit it.

The more often you
post to your blog,
then you have that
many more opportunities
to blast your new
post out to Twitter,
Facebook and other
places.

Every time you post
your "new article",
people interested
in that topic will
visit your blog.

Do you write
3,000 word blog
posts?

It's good to do.

But I'd like to
see you try this
(and I'll be doing
more of this on
my blog, too).

Break a 3,000 word
article into three
1,000 word articles.

Post one on Monday,
another on Wed and
the third of Friday...

You can change the
numbers and days
around, but try
spreading your
content out over
more time.

It gives you many
more opportunities
to get fresh eyes
to your blog.

Now, once they're
on your blog, you
can set it up to
convert them into
email subscribers.

This is getting way
too long, so I'll
pick up the lesson
at this point the
next time.

Meanwhile, click
the reply and let
me know if this
is resonating with
you and your business
model.

I'd love to hear
from you and I make
every effort to get
back to everyone
who take the time
to reply to my emails.

Here's A Copy Of Part 3 of
"I hate to admit it"

(Copy of Part 2 and
then Part 1 follows)
==> ==> ==>

I started this newsletter
series admitting that I
had worked on so hard
building a very popular
blog with lots of traffic...

but it was failing
in the sense that
it wasn't doing me
any good in terms
of having an online
business.

So I started changing
things.

I'd like you to think
in terms of making some
changes to your blog
if you find yourself
in the same predicament
I once did.

If you're brand new
to blogging... then
you're in luck.

You can do these things
right from the start
and avoid some of the
head scratching and
hand-wringing that I
had to endure.

So let's talk about it.

How can you make your
blog "professional"
instead of casual and
hobby-ish?

The very first thing
you need to do is to
make sure you're
building an email list.

To build a list is to
build a business.

To blog without
building a list
is to have a blog,
but not a business.

It's really that simple.

You need an auto-responder.

This is not negotiable.

This is an "email service
provider".

You need it to harness
and manage an email list.

*******************

The best one (and they
all cost about the same)
that I always recommend
is GetResponse.

Today, if you sign up
for GetResponse with
my affiliate link
below, you'll get a
30-day F-ree T-rial...

plus...

I'll give you 30 days
of one-on-one coaching
with me at no cost, to
put a killer list building
and email marketing
program together.

Just sign up here...
donnamerrilltribe.com/getresponse

Then reply to this email
and we'll get started.

********************

Now, why will it help
your business to build
an email list?

Because this is the
single best thing you
can do to start building
a pro-fit base for your
blog.

It's very difficult to
sell your products and
services directly from
your blog.

Much, much easier to
get your most interested
readers to join your
email list, then send
them messages crafted
precisely to get them
to become your customers
and clients.

It's not rocket science.

You can do this.

If you're blogging for
a year or a day...

Make this your top,
top priority right here
and now.

If you've already got
an email list going,
that's great.

Tomorrow I'm going to
show you how to make
your blog the center-
piece of your email
program, so you can
1. build your blog
2. get sales

Today, if you don't
have a way to build
an email list on your
blog... just do it.

I hate to admit it,
but I put this off
way too long.

Don't you make that
mistake.

I'll show you how to
make your email list
pay off in the next
part of this series.

In case you missed it:

Here's A Copy Of Part 2 of
"I hate to admit it"

(Copy of Part 1 follows)
==> ==> ==>

I was talking last week
about creating a business
with your blog.

If you didn't see it,
I copied it at the end
of today's message.

I had meant to continue
on last week, but I was
so busy putting together
my newest ebook, that I
slipped up.

So, anyway, here's the
point I wanted to get
across to you.

It doesn't matter how
much traffic you have
coming to your blog,
or how many comments
and friends you get.

It only matters that
you build a crowd of
folks who want your
help.

That means they want
to get your ebook,
so they sign up for
your free offer.

Now they're on your
email list.

Now you can build the
relationship deeper
and eventually they
will become a customer
or client.

It doesn't have to
be an ebook.

You might mention in
a blog post that you
do some kind of
mentoring.

Link to a little
sales page that gives
more details.

It doesn't even have
to be a sales page.

It can just be one
of your blog pages
that you title
"mentoring" or
"coaching" or
"work with me".

Then link to that
page when it comes
up naturally in
your blog post.

Say "That's how it's
done and by the way,
if you need more
help, I do coaching
to walk you through
the process..."

Then link to your
"Mentoring" page.

Put a paypal link
on it and voila...

You've got a business.

These are just a
couple of examples of
how you can turn your
blog into a business.

I hate to admit it,
but I didn't even
think of how to convert
my blogging visitors
into clients and customers
until I had been blogging
a while and had built a
pretty large following.

So, I want you to think
of it right now.

How can you build a
business on your blog
today?

I'm not talking about
developing an info course
that might take 6 months.

That's fine, but for now,
for today... how can you
start building a base of
clients and customers
from your blog?

In the next (part 3) edition
of this mini-series, I'll
give you some more ideas
for doing this.

Hey, don't be shy...

Hit the reply.

(I just realized that
rhymes, lol... now I've
got a jingle going on, haha).

Anyway, hit the reply and
tell me what you're doing
to make your blog pay off.

Or let me know why you
think that's not happening.

What's holding you back?

Love to hear from you.

Here's Part 1
==> ==> ==>

I hate to admit this.

But...

When I first started
blogging, I thought that
I just needed to drive
traffic to my blog,
and the money would
start rolling in.

I figured if I added
some advertising on
it, I'd be on easy
street.

A lot of my fellow
bloggers were counting
on Google Adsense links
to put them in the game.

It was all about quickly
putting together a site
that could bring passive
income for ever after.

If you can't guess...
the Adsense path was
pretty useless for just
about everybody I knew.

You had to have so much
traffic coming to your
blog to make anything
more than a few bucks
here and there.

If you have that much
traffic, trust me on
this...

There's a much more
lucrative business model
you should be using than
Adsense, or banner ads,
or sponsored posts or
any other nonsense.

As far as my blog, I
built it up to the point
that, yes...
I was actually generating
thousands of visitors
per day on autopilot.

So, was that the end
of a happy story?

Not on your life.

In fact, I dropped to
an emotional low when
I first realized that
even with thousands
of daily visitors, I
had no way to convert
them into customers
and clients.

So, everything I had
worked on so hard
was working in terms
of having a very
popular blog with
lots of traffic...

but it was failing
in the sense that
it wasn't doing me
any good in terms
of having an online
business.

I knew something had
to change.

In fact, a lot of
things had to change.

I'll continue this
journey in the next
day or 2.

Meanwhile, hit the
Reply and let me
know how your blog
of other online biz
is working out for
you.
