Hi Friend
A short time ago, I was consulting with a small group of women entrepreneurs, most of whom turned out to be recently unemployed.
These were power women who are young, intelligent, held MBA’s or other sweet creds.
These women were all in a shock because they had been doing a good job.
They just woke up one morning, went to work and received their pink slips.
They were from all from different places, and all had different paths or careers.
What they did have in common was that they were all professionals in their fields.
The funny thing was that the group was not specifically created for women who had lost their jobs and careers.
It was actually just for “women entrepreneurs.”
But as we started working together, it became clear that most of the participants had joined the group because they had been outsourced in one way or another…
for one reason or another.
Now what are the chances that this would have happened to such a high degree within one tiny little focus group?
Is it a coincidence?
I don’t believe in coincidences, really, but especially when things are so statistically improbable.
I am speaking from the perspective of a tiny snapshot experience, of course.
Yet, I see this as a trend.
More and more, men and women both are being let go from their job or position.
And many find themselves unable to get the kind of work they’ve been trained for, or that they really want.
That’s why I think it’s more important today, given the economy we live in, to create an escape hatch…
what I call a “backdoor biz”… to fall back on.
Of course, people live in many different parts of the world, and have different types of e conomies and realities to face.
Some people live in good places for “opportunity”…
while others live where there’s virtually no jobs anywhere.
Or at least, not the kind of job they’d want, or that they are qualified to do.
That’s why I think that the internet is the ideal place to develop your “backdoor biz.”
On the internet, there is unlimited opportunity, and “something for everyone,” when you know how to uncover it.
Next time, I want to talk about how to use the internet to create a “backdoor biz” for yourself.
This is important whether or not you are currently employed.
…because you never know when the day might come that you need something to fall back on.
Whether it’s because
your company is losing ground to it’s competition,
or they’re hiring people with different skills to replace you,
or you’re gettting “aged out” of you job…
whatever…
there are just so many possibilities.
What’s your situation?
What kind of “backdoor biz” would come to mind if you needed to scramble and get something started?
Let’s talk about all this next time.
Talk Soon,
Donna -Donna & David- Whirlwind Success
