Subject: 5 second cure for fear

Friend

No matter how successful or powerful we become, we all experience fear.

There, I've said it.

We all have insecurities, worries, concerns, problems, challenges.

Especially in these unpredictable times.

We all have those voices that can creep in...

Voices like: “What if I can’t do this?” to larger fears like “What if I don’t accomplish my big goal this year and really let myself and my family down?”

There are two things to know about fear that will help you leave it behind and get on with your life (and hit your goals).

The first thing about fear is, unless you are facing a bear in Alaska and your brain is telling you to run, it’s not actually going to help you get where you want to go.

In the case of business, fear will be more likely to make you fail, than succeed.

You need confidence to grow a business, get clients, have a big impact.

And, in the case of accomplishing big goals you’ve set for yourself, fear will just make you less likely to focus on, and make progress on, your goal - than if you have full confidence that you can do it.

But the fear is real. It exists. No doubt about that.

And it pops up at the most inconvenient of times ;-)

So, what can you do about it?

Something very simple, and it only takes 5 seconds.

This is what the MOST successful people have figured out.

They find a way through it...

And that's where the second thing to know about fear comes in.

Here it is:

You cannot be afraid, and feel gratitude, all at the same time.

These two emotions are so diametrically opposed, that if you try to hold one of them in your mind, the other disappears.

So...
Here’s your action item for today:

→ Do an experiment.

The very next time you feel fear (because you will), put all of your attention on something you are grateful for in your life.

In fact, do that now. ;-)

Maybe even say it out loud.

Just be sure to focus on it completely, until you feel the emotion attached to it filling your body and brain.

And if you have any fear going on, notice what that does to fear.

→ You can even carry a reminder in your pocket.

Write “What are you most grateful for right now?” on a piece of paper, and keep it in your pocket (or wallet). When you feel fear about something, take it out and follow the instructions.

The key is to do this in the moment, before you go about doing whatever is making you nervous.

It’s like giving a little shot of confidence to your brain right when you need it.

Try it! And I’d love to hear how it works for you :-)

Oh and if you want to know more about the scientific side of gratitude?
