John 15 is a chapter I run to that constantly reminds me of His goodness.
There have been weeks, months, and years in my life when I felt as though I tried to do it all on my own and failed.
In John 15, it talks about how we are the branches, and Jesus is the vine.
The whole purpose of a vine is to nourish and support its branches. A branch on its own is dead. It can't survive long without its vine - it will eventually die.
This is exactly what happens when we choose to live life apart from the Vine. Without Jesus, we are dead and broken, with no source of life, but we have a God who chooses to be our life source, even when we don't deserve it.
This summer working at Camp Luther each week we were prompted to ponder this question. “What’s a Jesus Moment you had this week?”
Some weeks, I really struggled to answer this question. But it forced me to slow down, lean in, and see Jesus in moments where He gave me life, strength, patience, and joy when I could produce it myself. He produced fruits of the Spirit within me.
I encourage you to ask yourself, “What is my Jesus moment for the week?”
When you ask yourself this question, look back on your week and find moments where you saw God actively moving in your life and providing in ways you didn't expect.
Reflect on those and give Him thanks for always providing for you and being your Vine.
Closing Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank you for choosing us broken and sinful people to be your branches. Thank you for always providing us with what we need throughout the week no matter what the circumstances may be. Thank you for loving us and sending your son. Amen
