June Wine Club!

We made it! We’re half way into 2018 and boy oh boy has it been a ride. Twelve bottles of wine down, twelve bottles of wine left to go and we must admit, you are in for a treat with the next half. As you know, last month we honored the strong and amazing women in our lives, but don’t think we forgot about you DAD! This month goes out to the men who empower, encourage, and enhance our lives every day. Get ready for some delectable whites and big masculine reds! For our classico members you will sip on a French Picpoul that is powerful, but refreshing and for your red, an intense Petit Verdot that is great for rich meat dishes (think Summer BBQ!). Riserva members get to enjoy a Chablis that is fresh and fruity, and makes a great marriage with oysters or shellfish and for your red a Barbera from Sonoma that is the last of its vineyard so enjoy it while you can!

Château Saint Martin de la Garrigue, 2017
Picpoul de Pinet, 2017

In the south of France between Béziers and Montpellier, in the heartland of the Languedoc where the Mediterranean beckons, Château Saint Martin de la Garrigue works its charms. This crisp white is somewhere in style between a Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio. It's grown in Pinet, in the very south of France, and has recently come into its own. One of the most successful estates is Château Saint Martin de la Garrigue, with 63 hectares of vines, surrounded by pine and olive trees, and wild herbal garrigue. All flavours you may pick up in this crisp white. Dad will love this white while he is shucking back oysters!

Chacewater Petit Verdot 2014
Lake County, CA

In many of the best Lake County reds they like to blend in some of this Petit Verdot to add color and structure. They bottle the remainder and keep some of it aside as their little secret. When they do share it, they commonly hear from others that it’s the best 100% Petit Verdot they have ever tasted. Dramatic high elevation volcanic hillsides produce intense mountain fruit with great color and structure. Get that grill ready because this is going to be the perfect wine for a Father’s Day BBQ!

Marcel et Blanche Fèvre 2016 Chablis
Chablis, France

This Chablis A.O.C. is from parcels situated beside the village of Fontenay-Près-Chablis, at the very heart of Chablis’ vineyards. The vineyard was planted by Marcel’s son Bernard Fèvre over 50 years ago in 1965. Marcel et Blanche Fevre Chablis shows the classic attributes of a great Chablis: crisp minerality with fresh stone and citrus fruit notes. This chardonnay would make a good marriage with oysters, shellfish and grilled fish. A perfect way to start your warm summer nights!

Mathis Barbera, Bed Rock Vineyards 2013
Sonoma Valley, CA

Barbera is a new wine for the Mathis brand, and comes from grapes grown by a friend and mentor, Joel Peterson, at his Bedrock vineyard in the heart of Sonoma Valley. Long ignored by mainstream wine consumers in the U.S., the Northern Italian grape of Barbera  is capable of making exquisitely beautiful wines, with bright acidity and deep fruit character. The great vineyard site and careful farming at Bedrock resulted in spectacular fruit concentration in 2013 and resulted in luxuriously framed wine. Sadly, this vineyard has been removed from production, so this will be a one and done effort.  Enjoy this once in a lifetime wine with your favorite meat dish, sounds like the perfect Father’s Day dinner to us!

June Cheese & Charcuterie Club!

We are partnering w/ Cultured Slice this month for our June Cheese & Charcuterie Club! What better way to celebrate the half mark of 2018 and Father’s Day by making some charcuterie boards!-that’s how people celebrate that, right? Well, that’s how we celebrate and trust us when we say you will have the charcuterie board of your life with this beautifully sharp Shropshire Blue from Nottinghamshire (trying saying that 5 times fast) along with some delicate and smokey Olli Napoli Salami, and to finish off some indulging and crunchy Quicos corn nuts from Valencia, Spain. Pairs perfectly with cheesy Dad jokes and great wine!
Shropshire Blue
Nottinghamshire, England

Made of pasteurized cow’s milk, it is produced by Long Clawson, Leicestershire and the Cropwell Bishop and Colston Bassett dairies in Nottinghamshire. It’s a semi-firm Blue cheese described as a cross between Stilton and Cheshire. In a period of 10-12 weeks, it forms an orange-brown natural rind and smooth texture. With a sharp, strong flavor and a bit of a tangy aroma, it is a vegetarian’s cheese having a fat content of 48%. It can be paired with Pinot Noir or Riesling.

Olli Napoli Salami
Italy

Napoli salami is smoked over applewood giving a complex, heart flavor traditional to the smoked salami from Naples. These pre-sliced favorites are perfect for snacking, topping off your homemade pizza, or a quick and easy addition to any party platter.

Quicos Corn Nuts
Valencia, Spain

These GMO free Quincos are giant corn kernels that have been soaked in water, fried and salted. The result is a delightfully crunchy snack that pairs perfectly with your favorite beer.
