POLICY NEWS

- Received 19 proposals for hosting EMA
19 EU cities have applied to the Council of the European Union to host the European Medicines Agency (EMA) currently based in the UK.
- ERC Plan for 2018: nearly €2 Billion Investment in Top Researchers in EU
On 2 August ERC announced its 2018 grant competitions with a total budget of around €1.86 billion, most of which are meant for early- to mid-career researchers.
- DG SANTE - The need for non-human primates in biomedical research, production and testing of products and devices
On 17 August SCHEER published the final Opinion on 'the need for non-human primates (NHP) in biomedical research, production and testing of products and devices' (2017 update).
- Open call for innovative projects in personalised healthcare
The EU-funded INNOLABS project will select more than 100 innovative project ideas to accelerate and further support both financially and with services. Submission deadline: 30 September 2017.

The newly elected Board of Trustees: President and Financial Auditors
The VPHi in collaboration with the Avicenna Alliance is hosting an "in silico medicine network" on Linkedln. The group is open to anyone with interests on in silico medicine research, and aims to increase the interactions among researchers from all over the world.
A sponsorship package is now available for all the companies willing to actively contribute to the conference. 
An interesting Linkedln post by Thierry Marchal (Ansys) to explain what in silico medicine is and how it could change future healthcare. 
A short video has been created to help introduce this innovative apps to patients.

STUDENT COMMITTEE
Today we are opening a call for participation for the VPHi student committee. We are looking for 4 PhD students with interest in in silico medicine research willing to invest some energy and enthusiasm!
PIC, a recently funded European ITN, is looking for 15 passionate and excellent candidates to become the innovation leaders in the vision of a Personalised In-silico Cardiology (PIC).
