POLICY NEWS
In silico tools at the centre of new FDA regulatory strategy to accelerate innovation.
On 20 July, the EC launched a public consultation on Health and Care in the Digital Single Market.
- EMA- Revised guideline on first-in-human clinical trials
On 26 July, the EMA presented a first revision of the guideline on first-in-human clinical trials, which outlines strategies to identify and mitigate risks for trial participants.
- Development and lifecycle of personalised medicines and companion diagnostics
On 28 July, the EMA released a concept paper on personalised medicine for public consultation.
- Commission to invest €97 million to help 64 small businesses bring their innovations to the market
On 17 July the EC announced that 64 SMEs from 16 countries were selected for SME Phase 2.

- EPSCO informal meeting
On 20 July at an informal meeting of EPSCO in Tallinn, the EU ministers for health discussed the future of digital solutions in health.
- IMI launches €130 million calls for proposals
On 19 July, the IMI launched two new Calls for proposals (Call 11 and Call 12) with a total budget of over € 130 million.

On 15 Sept 2017 the Insigneo Institute will host the first meeting of VPHi UK Chapter.
Researchers on the MultiSim project are trying to find ways to reduce animal testing in preclinical trials by using computer models and medical imaging.
In March 2017 the IMI launched a new project on cardiovascular disease to show how big data can drive progress in the CVD treatment and management.
On 18 July 2017 Prof Peter Hunter, a key and leading researcher of the VPH community, received an honorary degree in Engineering from the University of Sheffield
On Tuesday 11 July 2017 Arsenal Capital Partners announced to be in the process to sell its portfolio company Certara to the private equity firm EQT
