January 22, 2016

The Tennessee General Assembly has been busy putting together a lengthy package of bills to restore, restrict, confuse and disregard your rights once again.   The list below is only the bills that have had any activity since January 1, 2016.  It does not include the bills filed last year that can be acted upon this year, unless the bill has been acted upon since January 1.

Please review these bills carefully.  Feel free to go to the TFA Facebook group and ask questions or advocate for or against the bills you like.

Please, however, take the time to communicate with your legislators. Call them and ask questions.  Ask them to sponsor bills you like or appose the ones that you think are not constitutionally sound or, if sound, good public policy.

Many of the truly pro-2nd Amendment bills will be attacked by Republican leadership and certainly the Governor.  It is important that you contact your House and Senate members and insist - repeatedly if necessary - that they sign on as sponsors for these bills and that they insist that the committee members vote to send these bills to the floor for debate and consideration.

If you do not already know your legislators or have their phone and email numbers handy, you can get this information on the Legislature's "Find my Legislator" page.
