Cheryl Williams, Stamford Resident and
Leader in the TV and Broadcasting Industry
Joins the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County’s Board of Directors

Norwalk, CT - The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County (CAFC) is pleased to announce that Cheryl Williams has joined its Board of Directors. Cheryl proudly brings leadership skills, professionalism, and a wide area of expertise to CAFC. She will be instrumental in helping to further the organization's mission to strengthen the cultural sector of Fairfield County with promotion, advocacy and professional services. Cheryl stated she is “…thrilled to join the Board of Directors of the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County as I have a longtime interest in local cultural and artistic events and activities. I am excited to bring my unique perspective to help the organization expand its reach within the diverse areas of the Fairfield County community."

Cheryl, who grew up in Norwalk and now resides in Stamford, is currently the Associate Director of CBS News Operations, where she provides services to both 60 minutes and 48 hours. She has been instrumental in moving the CBS News Division into the digital era and works on special projects such as election and special events coverage. Cheryl graduated from a dual degree program at Spelman College and the Georgia Institute of Technology, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Electrical Engineering. She then furthered her education by obtaining an MBA from New York University. Early in her career, Cheryl was one of the few female engineers at CBS -- and possibly the first African-American female working in that capacity for CBS.  

Most recently, Cheryl lead the committee that organized the Survivor & Caregiver reception for the Stratford Relay for Life. She actively supports local area youth through mentoring, scholarship programs, social activities and organizing food drives for the local food bank. In 2003, Cheryl was the keynote speaker at the 9th Annual Career Exploration Night for Girls at the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk. In addition, she is a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and has served in multiple executive board positions, including Connecticut State Coordinator. She is a member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), Jack & Jill of America, Inc., The Girl Friends, Inc. Recently, Cheryl  launched an event planning business, Cherwill Designs and Events, LLC.

The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, has over 450 members, comprised of nonprofit arts and culture organizations - inclusive of libraries and municipalities - plus creative businesses, and individual artists. The mission of the organization is to support its membership and the cultural sector by providing promotion, services and advocacy, which it carries out in a myriad of ways. For example, CAFC convenes quarterly professional development workshops for the executive and marketing staff of its member organizations, as well as maintains the region’s most comprehensive online event calendar for all things arts & culture, CAFC is also one of the State of Connecticut, Office of the Arts's (COA), "Designated Regional Service Organizations," which are directed to develop, convene, and sustain the arts industry, develop cross-sector relationships, and provide support for specific COA programs and services.For more information, visit or call 203-256-2329.
