This Wednesday and Thursday we will be performing the second year of the Drill & Fill greens aerification procedure with one more planned for next fall. There has been noticeable improvements this past season in regards to firmness and drainage and with two more Drill & Fill procedures to take place, these areas will continue to improve. Improve the performance of your playing surfaces with Drill & Fill...
Golf Course Superintendents and Athletic Field Managers need complete control of moisture levels in their soil profile to assist them with producing consistent conditions and healthy turfgrass with deep roots. Drill & Fill changes the soil profile without the cost of expensive renovations.
Drill & Fill removes soil and incorporates new clean growing media (usually sand) to improve water infiltration, oxygen levels, air exchange, break unwanted layering, and alleviate subsoil compaction. The machines have a gentle footprint, applying only 9 lbs/sq. inch to the playing surface.
Drill & Fill is a delicate process that eliminates compaction along the sides and bottom of the aerification hole by drilling a straight hole with exact dimensions. This process does not damage nearby roots, create inconsistent pockets of air/water, nor separate the fine soil particles within the profile as can be created by various other aerification and injection techniques.
Many of our clients invest in a long-term Drill & Fill program to dramatically improve the soil profile and turfgrass conditions over time. This long-term plan is still cost effective when compared to complete renovation and will not force the facility to close the playing surfaces for a long periods of time. In most cases Drill & Fill surfaces are playable the next day.
