Subject: What does God want us to do with our anger?

Dear Friends,

Join us for worship this Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. We will be blessed with a special offering of music from our upper grade chorus. This Sunday, the bible passages invite us to explore the questions, "What made Jesus mad?" and "What does God want us to do with our anger?"

“Use your anger for good. Anger to people is like gas to the automobile - it fuels you to move forward and get to a better place. Without it, we would not be motivated to rise to a challenge. It is an energy that compels us to define what is just and unjust.”

― Arun Gandhi, The Gift of Anger

SENT TO SERVE
Pilgrim Card Ministry—Thank you to Michael Haisler for offering to lead our Card Ministry, with assistance from Sue Couch. They will be helping us send greeting cards to those who need cheering up or are in need. If you have greeting or get well cards that you will not be using, please drop them off at Pastor’s office so Michael can put them to good use. You can connect with Michael at michaeljhaisler@ymail.com

Help needed with Easter Baskets—The Pilgrim community will be assembling Easter Baskets again this year and bringing them to those who are homebound or who could benefit from some special attention. You can help in three ways: (1) Donate items for the Baskets; e.g. any Easter items, chocolate, handmade cards, pads of notepaper and pens, stuffed animals (new or gently used and “ready for their next adventure”) and, of course, Easter Baskets or Gift Bags. Please drop items off in the Pastor’s office in advance. (2) Help to assemble the Baskets on Sunday, March 11 at 11:45 and this is the March event for WELCA. (3) Deliver an Easter Basket to someone who needs to be remembered during this season.

Coffee Hour Servers—Are you looking for something easy to do for Pilgrim Lutheran Church? Coffee Hour is in need of two or three more people or families to fill in our rotation for those who have resigned. Your team serves 4 times a year and the contributions people give can be given to your favorite charity or kept as a reimbursement to you. The list is posted on the bulletin board at the back of church. If you are interested to be a team or would just like to do one special day, please contact Anne Barsano at cbarsano@aol.com or 773-472-6037. Thank you!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Plans for Cinco de Pilgrim are well underway - the annual spring party on May 5th is going to be a fantastic celebration of our community. We have a great group of volunteers, but we’re still in need of a few more people to round out the team. If you would be willing to give a few hours of your time, we would be so grateful. We are specifically looking for help in the areas of donations and sponsorships - it’s work that can largely be done from the comfort of your couch! Email Ana Caref if you’re able to help: analisacaref@gmail.com

A Meal Train for Judy Daniel has been set up as she recovers from knee surgery and her recent hospital visit. The meals can be delivered to Pilgrim and then volunteers will take them to her. Details of what to bring are in the following sign up link: https://www.TakeThemAMeal.com/HJPO7515 She is so appreciative of this help from her Pilgrim family.

Come to El Salvador 2018—If you have ever wanted to go on a mission trip, now is the time! Come with us to El Salvador, Central America, July 31st-August 7th, 2018.  Please contact Pastor Kristian at pastorkristian@pilgrimchicago.org or Pastor Anna-Kari at 773-990-0814 for more information.

Refugee Family Thank You Update—A big thank you to the team who provided a new mattress following recent bed bug exterminations from our refugee’s apartment. This includes Matt Gates (husband of Pilgrim’s 2nd/3rd grade teacher), Shermi Patel (school parent), Stephanie Zimmerman, our Bethany partners and the store Mattress Firm who donated a top-of-the-line bed frame -- for FREE!
